A comment in another thread sparked my curiosity.

Some people have the luxury of going to Peru. Some people have the luxury of owning huge tracts of land.

Some people live in the city, make between $20-30k/year, and rent basements. These same people who do have friends with yerts on huge tracts of land will find the yerts are buried in the snow at this time of year, anyway, and therefore, useless.

So... for all the urban people who resonate more with this kind of situation, how do you set up for ceremonies? How do you set up for group ceremonies?

Crystals, candles, visionary art, flower petals, rattles... a dreamer I know likes to feel connected with spiritual territory, and be reminded of spiritual cultures that tread the same visionary realms. It is quite inspiring. Also, dreamer longs to feel connected with nature, so a big dried willow branch, for example, is something cool to have around. Dreamer finds a nicely decorated ceremony space, full of reminders, ways to connect, and inspiration, with spirit and nature, a great way to set up for and conduct ceremony. Houseplants are amazing friends to have around, too.

What are your thoughts? Is this so strange? Smile

Friends have commented in a group ceremony that a large glass table, covered in petals, crystal skulls, chumpi stones, smudge bowls, etc., was an incredibly beautiful sight to behold, especially in the company of the molecule. Smile

Edit: I think the rationale is, "Well, if I can't BE in nature, if I can't BE with shamans, I can at least fill sacred space full of things from nature and shamans while humbly imploring their guidance!" We are all connected in spirit... It will be great, one day, to finally see the Amazon with not only the third, but first and second eyes, all together. Razz
Some things will come easy, some will be a test

I think it is largely an aesthetic thing. SWIM and I see everything as intercommunicating and legitimately engaged in Spirit, and prefer a hypertechnological setup, when available. We enjoy preenacting, drawing beautiful future selves down to communicate and guide us here. We focus mostly on psychic hygiene, part of which requires a tidy launch pad. The journeys typically take place in as close to complete darkness as possible, and then few candles for the return.

Sounds like you have a beautiful setup that works for you. Not strange.

Its very individual, people all like different things. Swim does it in the dark with some very colourful lights at hand so when the peak has passed and we all discuss what just happened things get switched on and become very colourful =p Music or films or whatever always get too distorted to be worth bothering with, except for 'they live' (a favourite of mine), the pirate transmission talking about aliens conjured up hyper intelligent insectoid aliens who have been watching us for millions of years hehe the change was instant and shocking, but I loved the twist.

I'm so jealous. Most of what we have in my part of the UK is just industrialised country side. I certainly know of no one who would be willing to trek far enough with me for a mushroom experience in the wilderness. The best I have close to me are small wooded areas that seem to be packed full of folk walking their dogs night and day.

I like small quiet beaches in the summer though Smile

I've had 2 small group pharma sessions with 3 folks that were quite pleasant. Nothing intense though as I can't find folks that feel the need to go that far. I'm hoping to start adventures with proper brewing of the vine soon, so I hope to get some folk on board for that. Fingers crossed Smile

Now THAT's how I would go about it.

Nothing better than a trek into the wilderness with mushrooms.

Wish there were access to better wilderness' around here though.....mosquitoes suck.

Its so important to have your feet on the earth grounding and connecting you to mother earth during your journey. As I have found that even though I live in a small city, it still disconnects you from nature during your experience.

For me this disconnection is not normal or natural, I hope to make some entheogen wilderness journeys like Fractal Enchantment in the future, its definitely the way to go with entheogen experiences...

I like the reflection of lights in rainwater on the surface of the streets. There is extra dimensions going on in those puddles. Also the lack of colour in the sodium streetlights allow for some nice surreal morhping in trees nearby. During a sunny day i can be fantastic to go for a big open field and just sit in the middle. But i also like walking in the forest (planted trees Confused ) in the middle of the night. Or just lie on the bed watching the curtains. Surfing the waves.

No specific rituals before, anything will do if i feel like it. But my mind needs to be clean. And when i am tripping in the house then the house also needs to be organized at least. Almost everyday i think of tripping, but it happens only few times a year. So guess i am preparing pretty much all days except for those that i actualy take the mushrooms.

I nearly always venture outside in some stage of the trip. Sometimes i will do almost everything that comes to mind. Other trips i am very calculating. Everything i see i will accept as nature, as part of the flow or show if you like. To give you an idea, this nature includes plastics if i happen to focus on plastic. Although i do admit there is nothing like the smell of the land after a thunderstorm. Or the smell of pinetrees, or lilly flowers...

Reminds me of one occasion where i was delighted by a nice but strange and intruiging smell. I was so excited i told a friend of mine who was with me on that trip. He laughed at me. We were standing near an animal shelter (dogs). I can assure you, when not tripping it stinks there.

Trips do bring one closer to nature. Whether it be by trees or streetlighting. Or both.

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

what are you trying to accomplish with these items?
do they have a meaning?
if not, then any trinkets would work.

i need nothing for a trip.
my eyes remain closed the entire time.
even when they open, my head remains tilted back for quite some time.
maybe if i painted the ceiling..?
haha.

deeming in the woods is intense.

I've had a couple of sessions on acid in Wales (Snowdonia national park area) and it was pretty mind blowing. I've also had a fair amount of acid or mushroom experiences on the South Coast as well. Yes, you can encouter people, but as long as you stray off the footpath you should be fine. Most farmers seem to tolerate it as long as you shut gates and don't disturb their livestock. Keep away from woods though during the Autumn as they will be full of pheasants and some gamekeepers are not very tolerant of bizare looking invdividuals who are on a mission to find God etc etc.

Haha so tru, and shame theres not enough individuals in my area about wanting to find "god" in that way. Then again maybe its a good things Very happy Urban Parks have been the closest things for some. Got to make most of what you can! But then agian if you from the city you have to make a day trip of it (sorry for pun) because it is likley you would not be fit for commuting.

Connect with Gaia, trip out side in nature, far away from anything that isnt "real" as in not made naturally, after all buildings, roads, even walls, were once ideas in someones head just chemical substances wizing around or what ever ideas are made from Very happy
