long long time member, but apparently after the year and years (almost a decade) I have not posted enough to make a post elsewhere other than the Welcome Forum, lol... Anyways... I am working on a New Extraction. Simple A/B like normal. MHRB / Vinegar / Naphtha And I got some very weird results… never before seen by my eyes. I have done at least 50+ extractions over the last 10 years. Does anyone know what this is or what to do with it to have it result in fluffy white crystals???Basically it a THICK YELLOW JELLY with Naphtha around it. It was Clear Naphtha when I pulled it out or the Vessel. I left it sit in the FREEZER for the last 12 Hours and this is the current Result... Photos really do not do it justice so I posed a few videos to show what is really is like.

Huh, looks like fats or partly soapified fats to me. I can't imagine where they come from though, i've only seen similar things in my phalaris attempts. Never aything like it with mhrb.
I'm not sure as to how to save the dmt. One way i could see working is to add acidic water to bring everything back into solution, do thorough defatting while it's acidic, then base and pull again as normal.

What did you use for a base? What is the source of the Naphta (I.E. How clean was it)?
Can you give a brief run down of the process you used?

Watch out - Satan himself has jizzed in your freezer! But seriously, the main question is regarding all your materials. It could be the bark, or the naphtha or possibly the base. Have you extracted from this batch of bark before? What happens if you put the naphtha in the freezer without anything else dissolved in it? Is the lye free from other additives? Looking at the video, it looks as though you have lots of small crystals that are making a slurry. Do they redissolve on warming? If your freezer is very cold and you put the naphtha in there from warm the DMT may crash out too quickly to for decent crystals. One more possibility might be that water vapour has formed an ice slurry; this would of course also betray itself by melting upon warming. HT's comment about soapy fats does ring true for me as well. In a somewhat related fashion, I have used naphtha to clean wax residues from candle holders. The dissolved stearin can be freeze precipitated. It forms a slurry which looks exactly like the sludge in your video. It can only be filtered under freezing conditions as it redissolves in the residual naphtha on warming back to room temperature. “There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. From this position he has access to the realities which are ordinarily hidden from us by time and space, matter and energy. This is what we call the Great Work." ― Jacques Bergier, quoting Fulcanelli

What would you suggest for the acid to use? Just some 5% white vinegar or something more intense? Homo Trypens wrote:Huh, looks like fats or partly soapified fats to me. Naphtha tested clean. Tested it on some Glass and aluminum foil before using. This was an older thing of Naphtha that has been sitting in the garage for about a year or more. It still was the BLUE label naphtha and not the Brown Label that seems to be all I can source lately. The strange thing is, I did an extraction last weekend as well and everything ended out great! Using the exact same source of MHRB/LYE/Distilled Water/Naphtha. • last weekends extraction resulted in nice crystally whites. So I am clueless to what happened this weekend. • Photo of crystals produced last weekend is attached for reference. Dozuki wrote:What did you use for a base? What is the source of the Naphta (I.E. MHRB from the same source that I have used for the last several extractions. That I keep Vacuum Sealed in 500g bags and only open upon extraction. Lye is Red Devil Lye (White Bottle, devil chick on front), same as always used. Naphtha tested clean. Tested it on some Glass and aluminum foil before using. This was an older thing of Naphtha that has been sitting in the garage for about a year or more. It still was the BLUE label naphtha and not the Brown Label that seems to be all I can source lately. But, Satan Jizz sounds like some pretty potent stuff. I will try warming and see what happens. Freezer is not extremely cold, the ice cream in there is sorta soft... and not completely frozen. downwardsfromzero wrote:Watch out - Satan himself has jizzed in your freezer!

Soft ice cream? Your freezer sounds kind of weak - but then, it worked well enough last time. Very curious. Is your freezer slowly giving up and about to break, maybe? How has the weather - particularly the humidity - compared between the previous extraction and the current one? The simplest approach at this stage is to let everything warm up. It should redissolve, but anything that doesn't can be filtered out. Beware, decanting from a Pyrex pan can be messy - but I'm sure you know that already. Check also for water droplet formation. If there's a lot of moisture in there you maybe ought to dry your naphtha with anhydrous sodium carbonate, which can be made from baking soda by any of the usual methods. “There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. Sounds like you need a vacuum filter. Mmmm.... Knowledge. Keep pissing on this sponge.
