I find one on ebay for £12. Seems cheap, are these scales any good, how long do they last and how often do you have to re-calibrate.

Im using a 0.01 g scale at the moment, suits me fine, but would be nice to be more precise.

The eBay scales look like cheap pieces of junk. But if they work, I don't really mind what they look like. I'll need to order a calibration kit to make sure they really handle like they're supposed to.

The cheap ones from asia work propably good enough for spice:

My friend got one and it seems to be sufficient. But he also believes that eyeballing is enough and that smoking ability is most likely the limiting factor.

Time for a new 1/100 gram scale , been looking at many and the pricing is all over the map . Thinking of either getting a 100/.01gr or 500/.01gr .

Undecided about going the no name Chinese clones . I want to keep the cost below a hundred bucks , any recommends ? Thanks .

i hear that. i got one of those "american weigh" 100/.01g. it is inexpensive, has worked great so far, and is made in china!

u should be able to find one with better accuracy for the price u mentioned. i would recommend getting one accurate to .001g

http://www.amazon.com/Am...id=1262630117&sr=8-1

but if u need the full 100g capacity or more:

http://www.amazon.com/Am...id=1262630360&sr=8-4

like most everything else in n. america (not sure what continent u are on) even companies that used to manufacture here, have moved over seas. well cant complain about the price, but quality is sometimes lacking.
i think Mettler toledo is still made here, but oooo so spendy and nice.
anything out of germany or scandinavia will prob be very well made.

Just buy a cheap diamond scale from asia off ebay. It seems to work fine. It's not propably that exact, but exact enough for spice.

I second that! Can't beat 20 bucks for a milligram scale.Smile
They come with a calibration weight, so you can check 'em from time to time.

I think they're ripping off the american scales brand, but they do work as it seems. Better save some money and spend it for other supplies.

I bought a fake Gemini milligram scale from China for $20 or so. More than good enough for spice.

My friend is cautiously optimistic about his made-in-China "American Weigh" DIA 10. It cost approximately 20 USD on amazon and has worked reasonably well. However he's still not sure if the pharma dose he just took contained 40, 50, or 60 mg DMT fumarate. Buy local if you can.

I have one of those, actually, and it's not bad. Comes with a 10g weight for calibration (weighed in at 10.010g, IIRC). Remember that if a scale is sensitive to the milligram, it can only be so accurate. 50mg on that scale is 49.5-50.5mg, so for a substance active in the milligram range (not tens of milligrams like DMT), it will be insufficient. You can construct a mechanical microgram/milligram scale without too much trouble.

My friend bought a cheap ebay 0.001 scale and a decent 0.001 scale as well. On comparison, the expensive one is more accurate, especially at figures below 0.010. I am not sure it is worth the extra money though, the cheap ones are amazing value considering what they have to do! I think the only essential would be to get a calibration weight and a scale which allows you to re-calibrate before you use it each time.

So, I recently purchased the scale sold at:
http://cgi.ebay.com/0-00...in_0?hash=item2a046c88fa

...

I know some of you, at least a couple, have to have this scale.
I remember seeing the pics before.

What do you guys think of the accuracy of this thing?
I've placed what has to be at least 10mg of various material on this thing without it registering.

It kinda concerns me. I mean, if you're expecting something to weigh 50mg and it's really 60,70,80?

Have any of you had a problem with this particular scale?
I am 100% convinced that my search for answers has led to nothing but more questions.

id go for a .001g scales if you want to measure that low a dose.

I think that is a 0.001 scale, no?
I see a few people have posted on that scale before and rated it OK. To be honest though, I am not surprised if it is inaccurate when it costs about $10. I read up on reviews of scales, and it seems you get what you pay for when it comes down to weighing at the limit of the scales capability. I mean, a lab grade scale that accurate can cost tousands of dollars, so dont expect too much from these cheap import brands!

There are a few mid priced ones that get better reviews such as J scale, My Weigh or Amput.

I got an Amput one from ebay for approx $50USD and it seems to be pretty good. I'd say, unless you are on a really tight budget, get a better one.

it should be accurate to about 2-4 mg's if you calibrate it properly before use. I find scales of this quality quite innacurate with masses under 10mg though for spice I think scales like this seem to work ok.

One negative thing the reviews did say about cheap scales is that when close to zero point weights are used, the scale can be set up to not register the weight. This avoids the fluttering of the reading when the scale is tared at zero. eg on a 0.001 scale, the scale may read the weight, but will not display it until 0.004 (or in your case even higher)

One way round this might be to place a small weight (paper clip or whatever) on the scale and then your spice. Just an idea, worth a try to see if it helps.

SWIM has that same one. it won't register anything under 10mg, it is best for measure 50mg or higher since it drifts 3-4 mg while settling.

For the price it was extremely worth it though. way better than eyeballing.

There appears to be a few different manufacturers of what looks to be the exact same scale. So BEWARE. One is good quality, and the other one is crap.

A friend has two purchased from two different places. One cost $80, the other $20. They look exactly the same, but are obviously made by different manufacturers if you open them up. The $20 one is very bad quality. It fluctuates all the time, and cannot weigh things under 10 mg. It’s not a true milligram scale. The $80 one is a true milligram scale and can weigh things that are 4 mg without fluctuating or taring to zero.

My guess is that one is a cheap knock off, and the other is the real thing.
