Hello, I am preparing myself for my first DMT trip and would like to get advises from experienced members of the community. Physical PreparationIt appears to me that smoking DMT is the most efficient consumption method, meaning for me getting the most powerful effects from less amount of spice. I do not smoke cigarettes (or anything). What would you advise to prepare my lungs for the inhalation?Mental PreparationI am familiar with esoteric world views and have already well integrated holistic ideas in my personal ideology. I am becoming more and more aware of the fact that my beliefs, decisions, and experiences from the past create the world around me. I am aware of many unpleasant events in my past that still affect my thoughts and actions in my present life, and that suck up my energy. I am aware of my ego and often recognize the thoughts produced by it, still often too late unfortunately. Is there something to worry about? Am I ready for such an intense experience as a DMT trip? Life is a mystery. Enjoy every moment of it. Do not try to figure it out.

Accept what ever is shown. Go in with the intention of learning and not standing ground on what your current ideas and beliefs are because that In my opinion could lead to a conflicted trip. And smiling during my trip I believe really kept me calm.
Although Im not even 1/1000th as experienced with spice as other members here, so If I gave any bad advice or misleading info; anyone feel free to correct me.

My friends and I agree that the tone of a DMT trip (happy vs. distressing) is largely under your control, so as Imsmilingwide said, try to smile.

Try to be in the best head space possible. Don't do it with anything hanging over your head like an argument with someone or any kind of nagging personal business. Someone mentioned no pre conceptions thats good. very important to breath through any intense patches . Keep in mind that if you've never done it before nothing on earth can prepare you for what is in store for you. You will no doubt be blown away by the shear power of the experience. Trust is important. Be strong and prepare to be amazed beyond your wildest dreams. The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible. Yes, best head space possible, no worry, no stress, just content. A calm and quite room also, no one talking or making a noise, no tv. Are you ready for an intense DMT experience, dont know, but do be prepared for all reality to be shattered and for alot of questions and trying to understand what the heck just happenned. And remember, everything is and will be ok, and SMILE

It's normal if you are a bit anxious before smoking DMT the first time, i guess we all where a bit anxious, i stil am tense before smoking, but still try to be as calm as you possibly can before smoking it, you will feel a little tense at first but that's OK, just make sure you are in a place where you can't be distracted by sound or movement like pets, wife, kids, roommates, friends etc.
The first toke will not do it properly imo, you will feel lightheaded, maybe you'll experience some mild visuals depending on the amount you smoked and if you stop then you can possibly be left in a confusing state of mind, it's important to take at least one more toke depending on how much you inhaled, from the moment you feel the effetcs your tension will fade away by itself, not always, it depends on how deep you go ofcoarse, but with a light trip you will usually be very very calm, deeply relaxed you will float into it.
When it's over usually you'll feel deeply relaxed, like you've been massaged for the past hour or like you just came out of deep meditation, it's a great feeling.
Just test the waters with low doses, test your sensitivity for it, but note that the difference between 2 tokes or 3 tokes will be huge.

If I understand the question, the concern is regarding preparation for the novelty of the DMT-smoke-into-virgin-lungs physical interaction. It is true that some have reported the smoke to be harsh, while others do not have this experience. Various factors that influence this include the purity of the drug, the spectrum of the drug (whether it is pure DMT, a full-spectrum extract, changa or other fortified herbs, etc.), and the method, either smoking or vaporization. Unfortunately I must say that this is a case of "it's different for everyone" and so trial and error (or in your case, "trial and SUCCESS" may be the best way to come to a conclusion. I will offer that in my personal experience, there is no cross-tolerance afforded by experience with smoking other substances such as tobacco or cannabis or salvia, so you need not worry on the basis that your lungs are less experienced. I would encourage you that the risk of distractingly noxious smoke can be mitigated, perhaps with vaporization or using a bong with a water filter feature. Ultimately, as you may have gathered from the previous responses, whether or not the smoke is harsh is generally seen as an item of low importance when taking the whole experience into consideration. That said, it is wise to be thoughtful about the details of this undertaking, no matter how small they may seem, and I commend you! Good luck, and please report back if you feel the urge.

I happen to think mullein is the secret to minimizing the harshness. I've tried many things and have landed on mullein as the best carrier herb to use with dmt. Mullein is apparently very good for the lungs by itself. But as Umantis said Trial error, trial success is the best way to discover what works for you. Everyone is different and i have noticed that some people are very very sensitive to spice. I think starting with smaller doses is the best way to work into it. Ease into it. start small . I have had the opportunity to talk many people through the experience, because as you can imagine its totally worth preparing for. Be comfortable, be ready, and get ready because you have never felt anything so good prolly ever! Its not really all that hard to breathe ... you had asked about lung preparation, but you know if you have a head full of music, and you're not thinking about anything, its like watching the most beautiful attraction and you're just feeling amazing, almost like a guilty pleasure of good, you're going to want to stay there forever and when you come out you're going to want to go back. There is absolutely nothing wrong, with taking a MONSTER HIT A great deal of meditation is required

I would recommend deep breathing exercises a few days before taking DMT. Get accustomed to breathing slow and deep for about 15 minutes at a time. You're body will take care of itself but in the event you become aware of your breathing, you need to be able to control it or ignore it. Deep relaxing breaths are best in my opinion. To prepare your lungs I would recomend smoking fresh parsley after washing it and drying it out via microwave. Or canabis if you have it available, not to mention it would be more fun . It depends on what smoking method you choose however. I use a bong and sandwich DMT in between parsley for a leafbed method. I never find the smoke to be harsh but I often cough accidentally after periods of time without smoking anything. It's more of a natural reflex thing personally, smoking anything will cause the same problem. Furthermore, burning parsley or whatever in a bong will give you a better idea of how to use a bong if you are unfamiliar with it. -- Nothing could possibly prepare you mentally, I still get nervous before smoking it's perfectly natural. Some people may disagree with me here but for my first time I started with only 20mg or so. After I came down and realized how fantastic it is I immediately wanted try more. After about 20 minutes of coming down I would redose for about 40mg. Most of my initial fear was gone after the first dose. -- We're the new hippies, we get high on life, not drugs. I am very nervous before every try, but it has been totally unfounded so far. The nerves usually extend into about 30 seconds of the trip, then dissolve away and all anxiety is gone. I'm still to dose higher than 35mg though... Oh great - the world has just been replaced by elf machinery. Sic transit gloria mundi

Yeah no matter how nervous you get thats all gone by the time you exhale. If you are apprehensive just spend 15-20mins meditating, focus on your breathing and relax.
