I'm another dreamer, student and traveler of the Universe.

I've been learning what I can about the topics of psychedelics and their roles for some time now and though I have gained some understanding I have a lot to learn.

I had my first psychedelic experience in 1995 (High School) and have used them periodically including both microdosing as well as larger doses on occasion though I use them much less often now than I did in the past.

I'm generally familiar with aspects of chemistry, mycology, taxonomy and pharmacology as they pertain to psychedelics and I have an active interest in the history and tradition of various entheogenic plants and their ethnobotany.

Thanks!

Welcome to the Nexus Smile

What psychedelic and regimen have you found to be personally preferable for microdosing?

What was your first psychedelic experience like?

Which one do you tend to gravitate towards the most?

It's a pleasure.

At present I am not microdosing but in the past I have had the best results with the following:
Mescaline 10-20mg alkaloid salts daily but not long term, only a week or two at a time.
Tricky to measure but rewarding and stimulating.

Psilocybin containing fungus; daily dose of very low amount.
This is hard to describe a dose because mushrooms vary so much in content that no standardized amount works easily across the board. Generally I aim for a dose that is below that where the first effects are noticed, but not a homeopathic dilution. A single gram of some mushrooms is a highly effective dose of over 20mg alkaloid while others may be four to five times weaker while some rare exceptions can be even stronger. This makes microdosing with fungi quite tricky, but in my experience microdosing with mushrooms is also highly rewarding. I want to call it sensitizing to the heart and spirit, but that sounds unmeasurable and subjective. I admit I felt compelled to microdose with fungi for over a year, almost two decades ago. I would not have done it had I not felt a strange compulsion to do so.

Exhilarating is the first word that comes to mind, but it was many things. Liberating is another word but it isn't quite right because it was also like coming home for the first time. It changed my life but it was also very introductory and was not in any way one of my more significant or even memorable psychedelic experiences. It was a low dose of LSD that I literally took in class and well... I skipped the next one and the one after that etc.

Mushrooms have been a strong ally so in a way I might think of them as gravitating towards me, however my experiences with them have been very private, sacred and personal and not really something I would say I gravitate towards. DMT including orally activated DMT is also like that for me in many ways.

With mescaline however I have often found the experience to be more comfortable in many ways, while still connecting me to the Divine Source or Sacred Energy of the Universe and Nature itself as well as to Mother Earth.

The most accurate answer I can give is that I gravitate towards the Earth and seek to affirm and strengthen my connection to the Earth as well as my own Somatic nature. It is the experience and not the specific substance that I gravitate towards and I am open to the idea that the same functional experience can be experienced and facilitated by more than one substance or material.

Oddly I have lately gravitated towards the clavine alkaloids of various Ipomoea and have found that single seed doses of some species make effective microdosing material. I have found HBWR seeds to be too strong for this, but some Ipomoea tricolor work wonderfully well and the last material I microdosed with was a variety of Ipomoea tricolor 'Pearly Gates'!

I too really enjoy the mushroom microdose. I take 100mg of enigma every other day. I find it pretty helpful in an array of ways, even if there are still moments of intense psychological struggle. There's a great deal more clarity in navigating it at the very least. I try to stick with one strain and stay consistent so as to delimit the range of intensity that can be had and experienced otherwise.

I enjoy your approach and perspective.

Can you describe your experiences with clavine alkaloids? Something I've never come across before. You've opened a new door of interest for me. Smile

I've spent a significant amount of time in the last couple of years studying Ipomoea and the emerging literature relating to the symbiote Periglandula, as well as plumbing the older literature relative to the same topic.

In this I have found some evidence suggesting that the active psychedelic alkaloids of Morning Glory entheogens are the Clavine alkaloids like Agroclavine, Penniclavine, Isopenniclavine, Chanoclavine, Elymoclavine, lysergol etc. Many of these break down over time into lysergic acid, which is not known to be a psychedelic alkaloid, rather it is a sleep causing sedative.

My studies indicate that the psychedelic action of Morning Glory seeds is largely due to the clavine content and not LSA. LAH may be psychedelic, but the indication of my own study is that the primary effects are caused by the clavine, and that is is also true for Kykeon preparations, which are known to contain clavines as well.

Unfortunately the PDFs I have collected for this topic are on a different computer and it will take time to put together references. I had a series of Email discussions about the topic and in depth that I had planned to adapt later, but Google will not let me access my own email anymore as that I do not carry a phone and gmail no longer allows a person to just sign in without a phone number. I do not own, nor carry nor want a cell phone. I don't Facebook either. In fact I avoid using Meta and Google products whenever possible now.

I will likely gradually work on the Ipomoea topic here over time. I have a lot I can write but I don't want to rush any of it and it is a tricky topic due to a lot of questionable information and confusing taxonomy and I don't want to make it more confusing or promote uninformed conclusions. Most of my notes are taken on paper now and I often avoid putting some things into a digital format so please be patient with me regarding this particular topic.

Okay, I hunted down 2 papers that pertain to the effects of Clavines verses Lysergic Acid.
I am including them with the post, and may choose to discuss them later if they have not already been addressed by other members in the past.

I realize the Intro-Essay sub-forum is not the ideal place for such discussions and include the information here as a response to a question.

Thank you so much! This is very interesting to me and look forward to learning from you and the results you share.

Also, feel free to write stuff up and post it. If you can't post it in a particular forum at present, shoot me a PM and I'll gladly move it to the appropriate subforum for you.
