This is a photo of a picture that belongs to my friend. I took it last night after my last spice session. The photo doesn't do the art any justice because you cannot see the intricacy of the artists work, however the style or drawing is somewhat psychedelic in nature, especially the trees and some of the creatures which look almost familiar! His pictures are mind blowing and I will take a photo of the other two that my friend has. Quote:I like huge pictures like that. How large is this? Me too, I would estimate it's about three feet wide by 2 feed long. "In chemistry, not quite right means out and out wrong" - Alexander Shulgin

That's really crazy cool. My neighbor has an awesome piece of art on his wall also, I'll try to remember to take a picture of it and post it here. Just looking it up,it could be a depiction of Hanuman,an incarnation of Shiva, leading an army of monkeys. T'Psych

Yes, he is indeed Hanuman and the rock he is holding above his head is actually a mountain. In the mountain is a special kind of herb (bring on the herb!!!) that will heal another Hindu figure called Lakshmana. Since Hanuman and his minions couldn't find the herb in the time that they had, Hanuman took the whole mountain to Lakshmana instead. That is what my friend just told me and there's plenty of information on the Internet on this story as I am finding out. The artist who drew this amazing piece is Balinese, his name is Wayan Warta (not the wood carver that can easily be found on Google). OK, quick update on this topic. The artist is actually called I W. Warta Yasa. Typing his name into google yielded the following PDF link of similar paintings. Now, I KNOW I've been to / see some of these places during a spice excursion. "In chemistry, not quite right means out and out wrong" - Alexander Shulgin

No, the creature holding the rock is not Hanuman. It's Kumbakarna, the demon-brother of Ravana(the villain in the Ramayana). Kumbakarna was supposed to sleep for 6 months in a year, and be awake for the rest of the 6 months. When Ravana's army was losing the battle against Rama's army (the hero in the Ramayana), Kumbakarna had just entered his cycle of sleep. However, Ravana's men were forced to wake him up from his slumber. Enraged, Kumbakarna ran through Rama's monkey army before being slain by Rama. This is it. This is what it was. This is what it will be.

Great picture. I would suggest taking a look at this one too, there are similarities if you ask me... pictureI especially love the small mushroom at the bottom right.
