Hello all! So im looking to make a big jug of mushoom lemonade to bring cammping with some family and friends.
Ive thought of two ways but wondering what other people might think!

My thinking is i could first make a big batch of plain mushroom tea and then add a can of frozen lemonade stuff or already made lemonade, or with real lemons who knows you get the idea lol.

Next thought is making some kind of big lemon tek and then turning that into a lemonade by one of the ways just stated i would want it strained in the end also.

My gut says make tea and turn it into lemonade. Any thoughts?

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

I'd personally go with option one. You're still lemon tekking it by turning into lemonade (there's plenty of citric acid there). But use real lemons. Regardless of the mushrooms, real fresh-squeezed lemonade always tastes better, lol.

Have a blast camping with the homies! I'm too excited that camping season is back around the corner again.

I'm not sure how well the taste will compliment each other... if you really want to mask the taste, you'll need a lot of sugar. Personally, when I drink mushroom tea, I simply drink it by itself or with a heaping teaspoon of raw honey; but that's just me, I have an acquired taste.

As above said, with honey I think it will go well to disguise the peculiar flavor a little,
or even to preserve it post-camping. If anything left..

Good luck!

Unfortunately, not quite. Honey preserves mushrooms by locking out all oxygen and humidity/water from hastily oxidizing the present alkaloids. Just adding it as a sweetener wont do anything for preservation. In fact, may actually speed it up by giving other microbes extra sugar to bloom with.

Having another thought. Possibly making an alcohol extract and using that somehow? It would end up as trippy alcoholic lemonade i guess. Although i wasnt really trying to have to ingest alcohol so thats probably why i didnt think of it at first. If i would possibly make a very concentrated extract i could maybe dilute it enough in lemonade to still have a good dose but consume as little alcohol as possible.
In the end could probably make this way taste the best though

Dear Th3k1d93,
It is only my aesthetic sense and has nothing to do with alkaloids. Have you ever made a conserve of nuts or dried dates? They are very good, and there is not much science to make conserves. You know, you just have to close the jar well and have some common sense when checking it.

Dear Enter_shambhala,
And well, about the alcohol extract with mushrooms, that's really a trend.

Ahh, okay! I thought you were referring to honey preservation to prevent oxidation like the Mayans used to do in order to preserve their fruits.
