SWIM loves music and has noticed how many psychedelics effect the experience of music, most in a positive way.

SWIM has taken mescaline 6 times.

Each time he has enjoyed music just fine during the come-up. But after peaking and through the comedown they whole experience of music is, dare I say, background noise.
Even when close attention is payed the music just cannot illicit a strong response.

SWIM's roommate has found the same.

An odd thing to mention too. While SWIM has a huge tolerance to MDMA and doesn't so much like it, doses of 1 and 2 caps seemed to cause the same "music meh"
SWIM was saying throughout the night "I just can't feel the music. I can hear it, but not feel it"
A dose of 3 caps (though giving heartburn and gut-rot) seemed to give the music feeling back.

SWIM loves mescaline and is wondering if anyone feels the same and though MDMA is a very distant relative to Mescaline would the same be true, at higher doses would the music "come back"

Anyone feel the same or think SWIM and his roomie are crazy?

Funny that you mention this... actually SWIM also loves listening to music on psychedelics but with mescaline/resin it was also not very interesting at all!

I've found with mescaline I LOVE heavy metal. Which is weird because I don't really listen to it much. Most other substances I'm all about the electronic stuff with the trippy edge, but with mescaline it's all about raw power. But it doesn't make the music sound wider like other substances do.

I'm going to try a mescaline and mushroom combo and see how that works for music at some point in the future.

Yes! that is exactly what SWIM was hoping to hear. SWIM has a other entheogens to test. But this news puts a higher dose of mescaline much higher on the list.

But that's not the point for me. I like to hear music and mescaline definately doesn't have the same effect musically as most other substances. Obviously it sounds better than when I'm clear headed but for myself especially it doesn't add to the musical experience like mushrooms can, though I do appreciate more organic sounds on mescaline/cacti such as bird song and the wind.

I noticed this to be strange especially with trance, as it's high energy as is mescaline, but with mescaline I don't want to dance as much as explore. It just doesn't seem to work that way.

Of course, what you can see and taste, you can hear as well, considering hearing is the main sensor for audible vibrations, the next being feeling.

I think the only "point" to all of this is: Eat more! And that's just MY opinion!

I don't work with pedro anymore due to health reasons. When I did, I never much liked dry powder. The name of the game was to consume as much as possible. I've seen things melt 1 week later after dosing and these were my most memorable mystical experiences. Many feet of pedro can be reduced to a cup of tea. There's absolutely nothing to be afraid of.

Just curios, if your not interested in his music, why take the time to say "nah im good". Just kinda seems like trying to squeeze in a subtle insult about his music, and that just aint right!

I've heard music before, especially after peak.
No music was playing.

Lol reminds me of this one time, we were in an outdoor loft in the middle of winter. Running this giant shop heater that runs on diesel (basically it sounds like a jet engine) The constant white noise of the jet engine and your hallucinatory mindset, your brain starts trying to make sense of the white noise and turns it into music! for real it sounds like music.

One of my buddies who was quite zoned out even told us to turn the techno music down cause it was driving him nutz. There was no tecno music, just the blasting of the jet engine.


One other occasions i have hallucinated fully composed psychedelic symphonies of the most unimaginable sounds. Literally hearing them as if i had headphones on.

Well... I see this is an old thread. But, my 2 cents.

Pretty much all drugs tie together with music for me. But, that may be the result of "programming" I have been using psychedelic drugs for over 15 years (I'm 34), a good chunk of that time was spent working professionally in music. Even nodding out on opiates has put me into musical worlds.

I think medium dose cleaned mescaline is the best companion to music creation In my little black bag (in reality, its a big-ish yellow flight case). Want to crank up the weird without extending the duration much? take a g of cubes just after the peak. If I get all my stuff setup ahead of time, this psilocybin/mescaline combo is just about perfect. I will be bringing caapi into the mix ( i hear it mellows out the stimulation ) at some point but haven't felt like messing with a good thing lately when Ive found the time to trip.


For listening to music... LSD reigns king of this household. Although, thats strictly from memory because I haven't taken acid in years, though keep some in the freezer.

Mescaline doesn't take on that razor sharp mind accuracy calibration feel that I recall from acid but I get a very smokey chant along vibe from music on mescaline. It doesn't mesh as well with 4 on the floor electronic music or heavily glitched styles (those is probably my least favorite music to listen to during trips for me anyways though) . Loosier more natural flowing stuff works well for me.

I feel very strong connections with music and mescaline... It certainly doesn't turn my brain into a hard-sync'd mindfuck-oscilator as much as candy flipping with whippits... but, what the hell else could do that?

I do like some music on oral dmt but I have never really gone total breakthrough with music playing. The house band in my head seems to keep me occupied enough.

Guess it's very dose-dependant since higher doses (for me) always brings alot of audible hallucinations which frankly just makes any music sound like crumbling aluminium foil.

However, playing my piano of low-mescaline/metocin doses is always epic, makes my room echo like a giant dome and every note lingers within my body

Mescaline by far i like listening to music on the most.

It's the only psychedelic ive had synthaesesia and actually seen music on. Now that was pure bliss.
