EDIT: I have double posted, currently trying to figure out how to delete one.[MOD EDIT: sorted it for you!]
Hello everyone! I apologize for any formatting issues as I am on mobile, as well as general spelling/grammar which I will attempt to double check as it is quite late for me.
I didn’t exactly see a prompt or suggested format for the introduction essay so I will just talk about how I get here, with inklings of my past psychedelic experiences, though I have yet to(if ever, haven’t decided that I will) try DMT.

As the title says, I am schizophrenic, but its not super severe and my other label of autistic definitely fits me better, but I put that one first because I think it might be more relevant to entheogenic experiences? Maybe they arent even totally separate categories anyways (lots of “”severe”” autistic people we have learned actually do have experiences that align with schizophrenia, they just lack the tools to communicate it)
Anyways, given those two the way i experience certain things varies a lot more than other people ive talked to. Marijuana for example is very hallucinogenic for me. Like very. The entire reason I found this forum actually was because I was trying to make sense of symbolism/an experience I had the other day and I was able to find a thread of people who saw basically the same thing here, in the DMT forums, on DMT.

Ive dabbled with psilocybin quite a bit, though its effects on me are quite variable (one major reason that I think this is I will discuss shortly). I know after my first heroic dose I had trouble integrating one of my realizations and it did lead to about a week an a half long psychotic episode (well a heavy increase in psychosis experience anyways haha) until it “clicked”. Ever since I went on birth control though shrooms havent done that much for me, I could take 4g or 5g and maybe get some closed eye visuals with some increased color vibrancy and more enjoyment out of music. I quit birth control a few months ago though and am currently waiting for my menstrual cycle to 1. Return and 2. Become regular again before I try psilocybin again, probably 5-7 days after ovulation based on some loose research on how the menstrual cycle affects seratonin/glutamate systems ( I know for many women even not on birth control, psylo barely hits during all phases except the luteal phase) and also whenever that happens to Also line up with when I feel like I need another journey in general.
Given all of that, I am not positive I ever want to try DMT, but I think this is going to be a wonderful community/resource to be a part of nonetheless. Happy to be here!

Hey drellaful19, welcome!

That's interesting, i wasn't aware the menstrual cycle was so relevant for shrooms. It makes sense though.

Yeah weed can be quite strong sometimes and for some people.

About deleting one of the duplicate threads, you can PM any mod (the users with a shield) about it. Or come to chat and find one there Smile

One thing I have never really considered before and definitely have an effect on the way psychedelic substances affect me is the lunar cycle. I have begun doing my depression treatments on the full moon of each month and the result is amazing. I have a breakthrough experience on a single drop of liquid LSD and 3.5 grams of psilocybin before I even vape any DMT. I am convinced, for me at least that the lunar cycle affects my experience in a non negligible fashion.

Thats cool! Especially that youve been able to find what works for you. I know I was going to try and get my menstrual cycle to line up with being in the purge stage around the new moon so I would have all around resetting time during that period, which would then align with the best time to trip around the full moon or shortly after.

Welcome.

The culture around psychedelics is overwhelmingly centered in ableist, white, male experiences. I thouroughly welcome the voice of individuals who don't share those qualities to join the discourse, and do so loudly. In fact, I for one am becoming increasingly interested in the intersection of disability and psychedelics and am dismayed at the lack of inclusion in this culture. And Santa knows we need to hear from more women. Menstruation affecting psilocybin metabolism? Whodathunkit?

For as long as I can remember, the "only" pre-existing conditions that contraindicate psychedelics is, indeed, schizophrenia and psychosis. The common knowledge tells us that it is exceedingly dangerous for individuals like yourself to experiment, however, your experiences don't necessarily seem to reflect that as being true. Out of caution and harm-reductionism, I am NOT making a statement about the safety of a schizophrenic person consuming psychs, simply making a statement.

I am sure I can speak for others in welcoming you and inviting you to share more stories and experiences. Be good to ya.

if you are seeking medicine to heal your mind - psychedelic is the remedy!
as for your period - you need chamomile tea. chamomile is the remedy for mensturation.

i find Dr.Seuss always to be a source of inspiration in curing schizo or autism

I will definitely say it comes with unique challenges in terms of exploring psychedelics. If you are interested in more context to the opinions of mine I am about to share, I encourage you to look uo the term schizoanalysis. Basically, the schizophrenic state isn’t necessarily an inherently broken state but one that is less defined by structure and frameworks. So, that can be very scary, especially in a society that is not equipped to even attempt to understand what that is. But in socities or cultures that accept that sort of stuff, the “schizophrenic” usually is the “vision bringer” of some sorts and learns how to make sense of their experience through community support. I think it is less the fact of one person having the schizophrenic experience itself and moreso on a day to day sober basis if you can find balance in your experience sort of (or use psychedelics to eventually find it). Distress on psychedelics is very real and the distress can be way more complex and difficult to integrate for someone prone to make distressing conclusions about confusing experiences. I apologize if this was an unclear ramble also haha.
