In the world of noobs I am a complete noob.

53 years old and never took as much of a hit of pot (or anything else) until this last year. I was turned on to some light edibles and they really helped me chill out at the end of the day.

Earlier this year my BF growing up told me he was seeing a lot of success microdosing psilocybin, and it’s been great for me the last 4-5 months. Occasionally I take 1/3 or 2/3 g of dried mushrooms. At this point in life finding the uninterrupted time is almost the hardest part! But I’m looking forward to my first 2-3g trip. The small doses alone have helped me to let go of some things I have been holding onto for decades. Really meaningful and positive changes for me.

I had heard about DMT from Joe R like many other people, but I quickly got bored of that surface level banter and wanted to learn more. Turns out there are dozens if not hundreds of hours of Terence McKenna talks on YT, and I have been soaking up the knowledge there. Along with the almost unbelievable amount of work on DMT-Nexus. Incredible posters!

More recently, one of my besties was going through a divorce after 25+ years of marriage and needed a “refresh”. She visited Mexico along with some trusted folks and tried Bufo for the first time. Her traveler stories were amazing and continued to make me curious.

So that’s it. Very new drug user, but very open to wherever the journey takes me.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on my introduction.

Hello, and welcome! It's always good hearing about people enter these spaces for the first time.

Are you microdosing on a particular regimen, or just when it feels right?

I love Terence. Even if some of his ideas were kind of wild (and some in error), his heartfelt approach and authenticity is what grasped me the most. It's funny, he always gives a caveat like, "this is just my experience..." and then proceeds to speak of it in an objective manner, highlighting how deeply these experiences impacted him. I find him well-rounded.

Have you stumbled across Shulgin yet? What about Hamilton Morris? The list could go on... lol

Are there any other psychedelics you have your eyes on?

Pleasure meeting you.

One love

Thank you for the welcome!

I was microdosing the three days on two days off method. But I read some research that mushrooms only have a half life of 24 hours. And I am currently getting off of SSRIs after 20 years (thank you psilocybin!) so I am doing them on alternate days.

I hadn’t heard of those speakers before but I am already checking them out. Anyone else I should be watching/listening to?

I’m concentrating on mushrooms and DMT right now. I’m curious about ayahuasca and acid. But trying to take it slowlySmile

Hello Oscillator and welcome!!

I can completely agree on trying to find the right time as one of the hardest things to work with. Trying to find the right set and setting. Setting intention to gain the most meaningful experience can get really hard for it all too come together. Ones intuition can go really far and having a guide can help with proceeding. But in all reality taking the plunge takes a certain mental fortitude. Interesting with dmt the work doesn't get easier for me. It takes complete dedication to let go not knowing what awaits me on the other side into hyperspace. The entities have noticed my reluctance at times and point out it to me by saying, "why such the struggle?"
I recommend reading Peter Gorman's work with ayahuasca and Dr. Stanislov Grof's work with lsd. Fascinating stuff! Wishing you the best with your journey.

Slow and steady will probably help you build a solid foundation for yourself with entheogens, so good on you for already taking that position.

I've learned that I need to make it more of a priority to make the time for psychedelic endeavors. But sometimes it certainly is hard.

From my guide-work studies I have adopted a third facet to set and setting, and that's skill. Practice practice practice the experience and skills will develop that can be employed in the experience and in life Smile .

Some other people that might interest you (not all are speakers per se); Paul Stamets (mushroom expert), James Faideman, Rick Straussman, Rick Doblin, Michael Pollan, Dennis Mckenna (Terence's brother), David Nichols, Amanda Fielding, and that's probably a good start. There's also the podcast, Psychedelics Today, where you can hear a lot of really in depth conversations about many topics related to the psychedelic space from many different individuals, from grassroots activists, to PHD researchers.
