I think that calling DMT a potential "treatement" for depression is erroneous. It's not a magic pill like pharmaceuticals that simply plaster over your negative emotions rather than resolving them. I'm sure we all know that trips are often intense and terrifying, rife with negative thoughts, and not always blessed with a happy ending.

Nonetheless I'm still happy that these things are finally gaining some "legitimacy" among the main stream.
I don't want comfort. I want God, I want poetry, I want real danger, I want freedom, I want goodness. I want a clever signature.

The article did specify that after the journey participants would immediately go into psychotherapy, so it doesn't seem focused on DMT as a cure-all but as an adjunct to therapy.

Thank you for sharing this. It's kind of like an omen for me at the moment. I could certainly use a blast-off for my own therapeutic purposes, but when depression is running high, it throws up many blocks making it harder to approach the experience, despite being aware of the benefits and meaning I experience. It's serving as a reminder that I should probably be more psychedelically involved, about the severity of my depression, and that I need to be better about focusing on managing it. So thank you again.

I think it has something to do with the breakthrough mechanism that allows our brain to turn the "serotonin faucet" back on and produce serotonin on it's own. If your depression isn't caused by a chemical imbalance that causes your brain to stop producing serotonin then I would agree this probably isn't going to help, if you do have problems creating serotonin on your own DMT definitely helps.

I think we can also look at it as a reset for the default mode network, and as such can be helpful for those that don't necessarily have a chemical imbalance. Within the field, there's still a lot of research to be done in assessing various causes for depression, some of them being outside the chemical imbalance camp. I think it should also be noted that serotonergic means it acts on that system, not necessarily producing more serotonin (but not saying that you were necessarily implying such Dirty T my friend).

The serotonin hypothesis of depression is quite the conundrum for neurosciences. It seems serotonin or the lack of it indeed has something to do with the depression, but from the viewpoint of common experience it seems like the causality goes the other way around. Enduring losses and disappointments in life very often results in lack of optimism and simultaneously alters the way our brains behave. It's still a wonderful mystery what's going in there.

I definitely didn't mean to insinuate that DMT or other entheogens cause an elevated production of serotonin rather that in brains with a depletion such as my own it corrects the entire absence of serotonin. For myself it's a night and day difference. I also am in agreement that any long term results require therapy in conjunction, this isn't a 'magic bullet'. The only magic bullet I ever found was PCP and it's dangerous for me, it would instantly flip deep depression to a manic episode. With the treatments I have been using I am leveled out, neither depressed nor manic.

It's good hearing about those who have achieved such balance. I am still finding what works best for me. Your reports of heavy dosing to remedy and manage have been encouraging to me.

And I certainly knew you weren't trying to imply that. It does seem to be common for some to think contrary to what we've stated, which impacts use and practice needlessly.

It may have removed the blockage or whatever stops the serotonin production. I'm sticking to my regimen this time and using every 3rd day between treatments. Last night I caped approximately 15mgs and had a very interesting experience. It started with shifting sacred geometry that was moving and shifting very rapidly and then I encountered some entities that asked for my help with other entities that have been causing trouble in hyperspace. It was the first time I encountered entities outside of hyperspace that actually communicated with me. The visuals were very different and lasted until I fell asleep about 30 minutes after dosing. I feel really good today as well. I am truly grateful to the Creator for this wonderful molecule and the Nexus for the knowledge and support that has helped me to harness it's powers on a clinical sense from the comfort of my own home.

Is it possible to consider dmt as a way to access beyond the normal range of perceptions. Though the qualities of your vibration/consciousness/being will likely amplify what you hold the most. That's kindof how I see it.
