hi, my name is jurmala, i'm an performance artist and researcher. before studying fine arts, i studied theory of science and philosophy of mind specializing on non-human subjectivities and on how we construct the objectivity and subjectivity of non-humans by performing our encounter.
i micro dose / dose jurmala pretty regularly, that is powder of inner root bark of jurema preta together with powder of peganum harmala seeds. i'm experimenting with different forms of doing it: in capsules or as a tea with hot water or with beer or with cold water or other psychedelic substances, with other plants, different doses, different ratios, different situations, different rhythms, different vibrations.
on a day to day basis it helps me to get out of my head into my body into the moment and not losing my self in thoughts, daydreams or time traveling - i'm by nature pretty heady and often become self conscious in social situations which annoys me. i love it to live in endosymbiosis with those two plants, embracing the reality of being the multispecies cyborg that the human body already is - from the moment of conception.
i use it as well in my artistic practice, trying to create rituals which fit in our cultural context: i work with binaural recordings that i enhance with new sounds and effects after recording. people listen to those recordings on the site where i recorded them, move around and don't know what reality is and what dream. the immersive binaural experience itself already hacks consciousness pretty well, but combined with jurmala in their bodies ... that's really next level shit of immersion. my intention is to clean peoples doors of perception, so they can see the world without conditioned filters, blur the lines between the concept of reality and dream / fiction, in order to subvert the dichotomy and make people realize that there isn't one fixed reality but a multitude and that you can create / change it by yourself. the world is nothing independently of you, it is what you make of it.
i'm here to exchange knowledge, i share what i learn and would love to learn from you. best case scenario you experiment as well with micro dosing / dosing jurmala. but in general interested in knowledge how to reduce health risks (especially due to inhibition of monoamine oxidase) and insomnia cause by harmala when taken in the evening, long term use effects and best practices in preparation and diet. but as well interested in collaborative research on the artistic level, maybe u have a similar practice.
looking forward to meet you!
best,
jurmala

Hi and welcome Jurmala! It seems like you found the right place . Another member here also uses MHRB in combination with Syrian rue seeds in a tea. His name is Tomtegubbe. Surely you can exchange ideas with him and other members here. I personally haven't tried that combination yet, but it has been on my mind lately to try it out. I would love to see the comparison between changa and this method of ingestion. I hope to see you around. ...no need to worry...

Hello, I second the practice with plants for the sake of getting-out-of-stuck-in-one-perspective, and if only just for the sake for that and nothing else, big success !! What yoga does for the body, the plants do for the soul, stretching, un-locking.

Greetings Jurmala! Happy to have you with us. Jurmala wrote: on how we construct the objectivity and subjectivity of non-humans while performing the encounter. As one who also studies philosophy, specifically epistemology, logic, philosophy of mind and ethics, I'd love to hear more about your specialization in non-human subjectivities and if you could expand on that last part of the first sentence. What's your current regimen like for your microdose? I may be able to help you in a few of your queries since I work with rue regularly. I pay zero special attention to the dietary requirements (as do a few other Nexians) with regard to using and working with rue. I drink it every night in my bedtime tea. Harmalas in general are weak MAOIs known as RIMAs. They are selective and reversible and only inhibit monoamine oxidase A. Not quite as much inhibition as would be necessary to abide by dietary precautions. With nonselective MAOIs there is cause for concern over tyramine build-up which can lead to hypertensive crisis. As for the insomnia, I'm not sure because it doesn't wire me really. Then again, I also drink it with two bags of Sleeptime Extra. I feel better and have overall better feelings of well-being in drinking rue nightly and sometimes during the day. It's said to antiviral properties in the maybe 9 months I have been drinking it seem to have gotten sick less often (watch me get sick now that I say that). It seems to lend a helping hand in persistent and major depression for me personally. Very nice to meet you One love What if the "truth" is: the "truth" is indescernible/unknowable/nonexistent?
