Aloha folks Smile

First things first...I have yet to experience DMT. It is outside my sphere of experience as yet. Also...I am no chemist. My early attempts at producing psychedelic brews have been concocted from old recipes passed down through shamanic/druidic traditions and word of mouth from experienced medicine men (of sorts Wink ).

But...my first experience is rising on the horizon, and it's getting closer every day Very happy

So my question is...in terms of being lucid during my first experience...is it worthwhile developing abilities in lucid dreaming?

My reason for asking this is that I have been led to understand that the neurochemicals present in the brain during certain 'interesting' sleep phases are similar in nature to DMT Confused

So are disciplines acquired in one applicable to ther other?

Your thoughts and advice would be most appreciated Very happy

Yes , but don't get too caught up in "stuff" , first go the distance and see what's up and take it from there .
Practicing various techniques can be sharpened only with personal experience . What works for one may not be the best for another , modify and personalize what works for you .

For the first time if you want to test the waters start off with a small dose and build up from there .
Just relax , you will be fine .

Lucid dreaming really isnt like DMT at all...there is a stage that occurs once in a while at night that is VERY similar to tryptamine entheogens..not everyone here seems to have experienced it though...and for me I am usually somewhat awake when I notice it..like I will wake up at around 3am to find I am tripping..it's very odd, very ayahuasca like..dont know what to make of it but it can be very powerful and induce visions..

I think that this is the exact same thing that happens in buddhist darkroom retreats and native american vision quests where they stay in caves etc..and these experiences got me interested in one day attending a darkroom retreat.
Long live the unwoke.

It has to be said that good health and meditation, combined with proper sleep and stress free lifestyle are some of the most important things you can do.

I also develop my own ceremony/ritual techniques. I spend a few minutes focusing my mind & trying to clear the space of evil, i try to purify myself and the space. I call out to the ether and ask for safety and protection. But instead of relying on this entirely. I try to build a good strong positive force of energy within myself.
I have also learnt the hard way that being hostile to malevolent entity's doesn't always work and can have a snowballing effect only feeding the evil energy's.
I like to conquer evil by cultivating strong powerful positive energy.

Not because i subscribe completely to any shamanic practices. But because the proof in is the pudding so to speak.
Set & setting are the biggest factors for me. Secondly comes the above.

Of coarse Evil is certainly not always a factor. m just sharing my methods. Generally speaking, if i do all of the above before lifting off, im good to go. And after the first low dose i loose the fear and dive in head first.

I agree with you FE , when it comes to the actual dmt experience it is different , but there are a number of techniques that can be used beneficially during either experience or in any altered-state for that matter .

Nope. Don't worry, you WILL be lucid during the experience. DMT is not a sedative, it is more like the opposite, a kind of super neuronal stimulant.
SWIM had many LD before DMT, and he said me that it did not prepare him to the DMT, not at all Pleased
However, DMT experience increased SWIM's ability to do LD... It is not a direct effect but if you try to "reproduce" the DMT feeling while falling in sleep, you may trigger a LD.

Lots of food for thought. Cheers folks, that's really helped. I'll think about what's been said. I intend for this experience to be one that will be beautiful, helpful to my personal growth, and one that'll be treasured for my lifetime. I guess the old druidic notion of perfect love and perfect trust may be of use...we'll see.

I'll report back on what happens ^^
