Something I noticed is that the lead up to actually using DMT can be far more stressful than the journey itself. Jittery and insecure feelings that have to be overcome with self reassurance or ritual are pretty much par for the course once you've done it a few times.

So in a bid to avoid all this unnecessary tension I've come up with a different approach. When I think of smoking some changa I just go directly and do it. From the moment I think of the idea to the moment I'm passing through the purple portal is less than a minute in total. Do I feel happy and safe? Am I expecting anyone around? Phone off? Check, check, check, let's go! Grab that bong and hit it right this instant!

Theres still the "uh oh" moment when it happens, but as a whole it's so much less drama and mental contortion to end up in that same place. Intentions be damned, unnecessary ritual that just spins you out. You already know in your heart what you want, there's no need to do a muppet show for invisible forces that may or may not exist. There's plenty of time for woo afterwards when you are coming to terms with the information you have received.

I know this approach may be contrary for a lot of people, there was a time when I would have cringed from it as well. But for those of you who don't like pre-flight jitters or just want to get on with the show it's your express ticket to ride.

Thanks for posting this!

I find when a depressive episode is occurring, it's best to just go for it as you've stated.

I have a hard time feeling justified in my DMT use which impacts my journeys. Presently I'm only doing subbreakthroughs if that. Granted my feelings of unjustifiability may be more unjustified, but it is one reason, regardless of if I've done my ritual or not, I still set an intention.

At the end of a 12mg journey yesterday, I received information to the effect of, "you're not holding you back, your depression is..." found that kinda heavy. So I broke out a little green notebook for disembarkation notes lol. So far I've put ideas for future sessions (like doing it three to five times in a row at a particular dose), and reminders like, "it's okay to challenge yourself," "it's okay to journey, explore, learn grow, etc," "it's okay to engage the ineffable," etc.

Thanks again.

What does setting an intention actually do though? Are you just creating an illusion of some sort of control?

I'm not sure I would be hitting spice too much when I'm depressed, it has a way of seeing straight through all my mental blocks and dumping everything on the plate all at once. I'd maybe be looking at other more proven solutions like mushrooms. But each to their own hey, one mans medicine is another mans poison.

Ha! The intention setting definitely doesn't give me much more control. I do it for two reasons; so I can have a little focus, and if DMT entities exist, they seem to appreciate it. Covering all of my bases.

For me that's part of the point. It helps me work through a lot. All the same, I don't necessarily encourage anyone else to do the same. It's what works for meSmile

Just packed a small changa bowlSmile and I'm off!

I'm backLove

A few things I wanted to add but was think too much about the upcoming journey. Your comment about knowing what's in one's heart I feel connects with intention setting, and was a good point you made.

Thank you for being concerned on my behalf. A caring and understanding nature is nice to interact with.

Journey went well. Purged, but that's been pretty regular lately. I'm much more balanced that before I leftSmile.

Great post Northener. Be well.
