Hello all,

I am a physicist by training, but I have a strong interest in science in general as well as culture, philosophy and the human mind. Because of this I think at some point it was inevitable that I would get into DMT extraction as it combines so many things that I find fascinating. Chemistry, neuroscience, mysticism and wonder. The almost ritualistic procedure it is to extract and purify this chemical. I want to learn more and share my experiences with like minded people.

I am very grateful for the existence of this site, its members and the knowledge that has been shared. I hope to later contribute in a proactive way. My warmest greetings.

BFP

Hello bfp

Greetings back!
Psychedelic drugs don´t change you, they don´t change your character,
unless you want to be changed. They enable change. They can´t impose it.

Thank you for the welcome!

I am a theoretical physicist studying crystalline materials. A lot of the analysis I do involves group theory, which is a branch of mathematics that is very useful for describing symmetries of for instance metals, molecules, magnetic materials, etc.

Hi bfp and welcome aboard - if I can say that as a guest member?

Can you tell us about your extractions thus far? Which teks and which source materials have you used?

Thank you Smile!

I am using endlessness' eco-friendly tek. In the country where I live they take drugs very seriously both culturally and legally, so I am doing my best to stay under the radar. I am being very discreet about it all, not bringing my phone when I go out to harvest, planning ahead which days to do solvent evaporation, I am using a VPN now as well obviously. This is the one thing I don't tell my friends about.

I haven't managed to successfully extract yet. But I am hopeful that after ironing out a few difficulties my second attempt will succeed Smile. I'm using ACRB. They grow plentifully here, and because people are mostly staying at home these days, I found some places where it can be collected discreetly. Then I use citric acid, acetone and sodium carbonate for the tek.

I've been to some beautiful places in nature on my own and read so much about this chemical. I feel like I am a lone explorer here looking for a rare animal. Can anyone relate?

Welcome to the Nexus!

What happened with the extraction attempt you considered a failure?

It's definitely a cool feeling to be in nature, while being interested in phytochemistry. There might be potential plants of interest we don't know about in our area.. There's still so much to explore.

Interesting area you are into, crystals are fascinating on many levels Smile

Have you seen these two threads?

This guy in the second thread had an amazing video of DMT crystals coalescing, moving around the solvent, they had this weird pattern they moved in, like some magnetism was gathering them but also other forces were making them move around the solvent, I had never seen anything like it.

Thanks endlessness Smile

Those crystals look beautiful Surprised ... They are pieces of art. It must have taken A LOT of patience to get them to crystallize like that Drool . I would love to create something like that one day.
I couldn't see the video, I guess it has been taken down since then?

My fascination with crystals come from math. In physics when you have some kind of symmetry, like the repeating pattern of a crystal lattice, there are rules for how that material behaves associated with that symmetry. It's a real thrill when you figure out the connection between the symmetries and your math and can use it to simplify and make your equations more beautiful.

The laws of physics are just equations too, and at the fundamental level they are also a consequence of certain symmetries of nature. Inside crystalline materials we are finding whole other laws to describe things like electrons, mechanical waves and magnetic moments, than the ones you find in a vacuum. This is because the symmetries are different - they are dictated by the geometry of the crystal. So, I wholeheartedly agree, crystals are fascinating at many levels, also at the fundamental Pleased .

I think the first time I did the extraction I didn't grind the bark finely enough. I wasn't sure what to look for, or how to evaluate what I was doing then. Either way, I got an end product which doesn't seem to have any DMT in it. This time around I bought a powerful coffee mill. It's not quite turning the bark into powder, but there is a lot more resin after evaporation now.

Quote:

-Acid cook ACRB in 10% citric acid for 6 - 8 hours at low heat
-Mix with excesss sodium carbonate, wait for emulsion to disappear.
-2x pulls with 100% acetone, filter the pulls
- Evaporate the acetone
- Redissolved reddish/brownish wax in citric acid, filter it.
- Mix the citric acid with excess sodium carb, spread it on a plate and let it dry
- Pull with acetone again, filter, evap

There's a few deviations from your tek. I am basically at step yellow now, but I am having difficulties redissolving the product. Not sure why, but I can't get it to redissolve in either citric acid or white vinegar. It was suggested to me that I should grind it into smaller pieces, but that doesn't seem to make much difference.
