So, a a while back, I tried to do a cold-brew on 25 grams of mimosa bark. Long story short, it was very disappointing (and thank goodness, because now I understand what a royal @ss-kicking 25g would have been if I had done it right). Knowing that the bark still contained pretty much all of the actives, I left the container it was in uncapped next to a vent so it could dry. Silly me---it didn't dry fast enough, of course. All the bark was covered in a green mould, like bread left out on the counter for a couple days. Frustrated, I just dried it out properly, put it back in the jar, and forgot about it. I still have the mouldy bark now, about 6-7 months later. Is it possible / safe to recover it? I feel guilty about wasting stuff like that.

All respect for the plant, but dude, chuck it. Consider it a win for the mold.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I thought. Hopefully the spores had a good trip. I'll just toss it in the garden.

You don't want to drink it, but it's my understanding that if you do an A/B extraction and base it high enough, that should destroy the mycotoxins.

I was considering it, but is there any way to actually check that they aren't present in the final product? Other than smoking it and seeing if brain damage ensues, of course

I don't know, but even in the unlikely case that the base doesn't destroy them, you still have the non-polar pulls to leave them behind, especially if it's something as selective as naphtha, and freeze-precipitated.
