What happens when we find out we are living in a simulated reality that created itself in the future that is expressing itself in the present through individual conscious experiences..

Pretty much what was brought back from my last vacation from reality with the spice... Time as a non-linear construct and the evident advances in our technology leads to some very interesting possibilities...

First of all, what you described is similar to one or two trips I had, especially the created-from-the future part.

There was a period when I was more into the simulation topic. Lately, it didn’t come but there is one detail I keep seeing and what’s bugging me.

Why do I see pixels?

I see them often. I mean, half of my trips have digital parts. Usually, it’s something colorful or hyperspace-like, and it gets pixelated.

I don’t get why would a mushroom or a plant invokes the visuals in me that look like the Mayan and the Hindu religious art, and at the same time makes it look pixelated/digital.

Furthermore, I started seeing the pixels on weed. Also, in dark, I started seeing like if there was a digital noise in my eyes typical to cameras on the low-light environments.

And there is my girlfriend. She smoked weed maybe twice in her life. She took truffles once, and pharma once. And on the truffles, she saw eyes and pixels.

She didn’t even know the word "pixel". She had no computer when we met. So, why do we see them?

Only conjecture I could come to terms with is the work of Nick Bostrom, and the implications of recursive loop simulations of realiy(s) once a consciousness becomes intelligent to the point that it exceeds our comprehension.

I don't think we can say for sure that we are in a simulation. The title of the thread suggests that we are, but I think we are only contemplating the possibility here, right? Just want to make that clear/explicit (thanks).

That being said, during a mushroom trip I was show that maybe there is a simple explanation for all of this existence. Maybe, all this is an experiment by some kind of intelligence to see if it can recreate itself. The endgame/purpose of this universe being to spawn this new intelligence that is simply equivalent to the intelligence that created "this" - and therefore the same thing anyway.

Anyway, just something I took away from a trip one day. Probably not true, but I thought it was interesting. During the trip I got to see this creator intelligence and it was so far beyond what I could comprehend that it was ominous and frightening; not because it had any bad intentions towards me, but because it made me feel so insignificant - it's hard to explain 😅.

I can say with some certainty that none of us can objectively state the nature of reality...

It was just an experience that one wanted to convey as a thought/experience, possibly too strange and amazing for any of us to really understand..

P.S it doesn't even begin to answer the fundamental question. If we exist we we're created by something, either as a simulation or as a fundamental construct of nature and part of the universe.

What created that fundamental primordial beginning... this is when logic no longer functions.

What if you have always existed and this physical manifestation of yourself, you created, as a gift to yourself, to experience this physical world?

It's turtles all the way down, right? 🙃

We may never know. One thing we can do (among others) is look at fundamental physics, maybe there are clues there. Currently, it looks like time and maybe even space are emergent properties, not fundamental - our world breaking down into charges, spins and simple binary bits of information.

At the end of the day, it is quite humorous that we have no clue. At the same time the beauty that nature creates is breathtaking when taken in. Maybe it just boils down to having a good giggle while enjoying in a beautiful landscape with someone you love.

That’s quite an accurate summary of my 60-80 trips’ conclusion.
