Okie dokie... first things first; I have had my account for quite a while now, but just never found the time to post/write this essay... but here goes! Around 12 years ago I moved into a lovely property on the south coast of NSW, and quite quickly began planting... Anything and everything native to the area, with an emphasis on Acacias (alkaloid content in acacias was, at that point, unknown to me). In time, my wonderful acacias have flourished and the once bare, overgrazed farmland has started to become a teeming little ecosystem; with seemingly every day bringing another discovery in the native wildlife department. I guess, what truly brought me here was the urge to learn more about these sacred acacias, and possibly (hopefully) contribute in some small way to their research. Thank you to all who read this, and see you all soon in the forums hopefully Ypsilophora attached the following image(s): IMG-2857.JPG (6,182kb) downloaded 105 time(s). Beautiful landscapes you have there. Welcome. "It was altruism, not violence or force, which associated our higher cortex. Our intent is to awaken that memory." - Indigo

Welcome Ypsilophora! What a stunning place you have there. Which species of Acacia did you plant?

Welcome my friend you are living the dream for sure, thank you for sharing! At the center of this existence, it is everything and nothing, all of us and each of us and none of us. My light is now lit, and it cannot be extinguished.

Kermit, mostly a mix of A. floribunda and A. longifolia... but also mearnsii, dealbata, melanoxylon, and implexa... can't remember the rest at the moment; but got some more seed coming in the mail Floribundas are absolutely gorgeous plants! Thanks, Yp

Really nice mix! I recently passed by a couple Dealbata's here in the UK. Not sure how they cope, even when our winters are fairly mild.
What a treat it must be to watch these plants grow, to then have the opportunity to extract - Exciting!

Kermit, dealbata's are pretty tough... they've survived a few -10 nights in their time here Im constantly amazed by the frost hardiness by so many acacias; some mornings phyllodes and twigs alike snap when bent because they're frozen through, but as the day warms up they thaw out and are right as rain! So saying, dunno how they'd cope with snow, dunno if it snows where you are. Am quite excited to begin extracting... got a few phyllodes drying as we speak. Once again, thanks everyone for the wonderfully warm welcome. Yp
