i've been having a bitch of a time trying to find a local source for toluene. home depot only has Xylol Xylene. Is the Xylol pure Xylene? I couldnt find any info on the label regarding the purity. i want to experiment with pulling the red spice but dont want to poison myself when injesting. i'd prefer to get the toluene if possible, since it seems it comes more recommended than xylene.

Yeah, I've seen posts before saying "Ew, xylene? That's some noxious shit, it's safer to use toluene instead." But then I also see posts saying the exact opposite. I haven't ever looked into the issue. As I understand it, both are bad to inhale the fumes too long, but as long as you make sure to evaporate completely, they don't pose any health risks with regards to the extracted material.

They're both horrible to work with and if you don't have ventilation make you sick to the stomach and give you a headache. Both seem to pull the same stuff, but toluene doesn't stink as bad as xylene and it evaporates faster.

Mmmmm. The sickly sweet smell of toluene is alluring to me.
