So far I have one trich, not sure of the exact variety, and it is a small one I grabbed from a local cactus farm. However, I already want more. So this morning I did a thing!

I hopped on misplant, and had no clue what I was looking for but I just grabbed 4 packs of seeds that caught my attention and I thought I would share my beginnings with you folks!

I picked up the following:

Bridgesii Lee x Huarazensis, 30 seeds
Colossus x Scopulicola, 30 seeds
Huanucoensis x Bridgesii Lee, 30 seeds
And Huanucoensis x ss02 x ss01, 30 seeds.

Going to have a big cacti fam in no time, I feel. Just curious if anyone is growing these and if you guys have any tips for a new cacti head Thanks for taking time to read, and I love you. <3
Don't worry, B. Caapi!

From what you showed me when you got it, its a Trichocereus pachanoi monstrose.

Monstrose being the growth mutation that makes it look funky. I have one too! Is why I wanted you to get it lol.

Im really excited for you to plant those cacti. I think you got some really good ones, not to mention from one of my favorite people to get seeds from period.

I like to use a soil mix of like 60-70% cactus soil, 10% organic soil mix like FF or something, then the rest can be mineral like pea gravel or some sort of small stones, and maybe a little perlite. On top I like to place a paper thin layer of sand just to hold the seedlings in place and help prevent surface molds and fungi from growing. Algae doesnt mind it but thats just another plant and isnt a big deal as long as it doesnt take over. Thats just my mix for young seedlings.

When they get older and go outside, I like to use less % of organic/cactus soil so I get a quick draining medium that doesnt hold moisture for long. (I also live in a very humid region so I have to be on top of my game because of that) Drier areas are probably ok with more soil substrates. They arnt desert dwelling cacti so it doesnt have to be compeletely bare of organic source.

<3 happy growing mang <3 cant wait to see those lil green dudes pop up

Love Misplant, shop there often!
I highly recommend the takeaway tek for sprouting them-- here's some of mine at a bit over 5 months-- you can't go wrong with that method.

I use a heat pad set at 31C synced with LED T5's because they respond favorably to day/night heat cycling. (Generally between 12 and 15 hours on)
