First off was not sure exactly what forum this should go under, feel free to move it.

So SWIM figured it might be cool to mess around with some other salt forms of DMT, and since Malic acid and Tartaric acid were both readily available at the local brewery supply store, decided to start with those.

Had about 150ml of saturated limo left over from an old STB. Split it in half, 75ml in two separate jars. Got some dry-ipa, weighed out 1 gram of each acid, and dissolved as much as possible into about 40ml of IPA for each jar. Added drop-wise, -

TASI - clouds instantly formed, and coagulated into clumps which fell to bottom of jar. Limo still cloudy, while clumps slowly began changing color to a more pinkish/red hue.

MASI - clouds instantly formed, this resembled more closely the FASI precipitation, where the whole jar gets cloudy, but clumps did not form instantly as with TASI.

SWIM will give them a day or so to settle out, and then will most likely need to clean them. Does anyone have any info on the solubility of DMT tartrate or DMT malate in various solvents?
SWIM would like to get more info together on these salt forms not just for DMT, but also mescaline and bufo.

SWIM still feels that the subforum requires a name-change to be more generalized.

Both tartrate and malate salts of dmt are fairly soluble in IPA as well as acetone.

SWIM did solubility measurements some time ago; from his records, dmt tartrate is soluble at ~3.5mg/ml in acetone and dmt malate ~14mg/ml of acetone.

He cannot find his values for IPA but he remembers that it was far greater than acetone. Alcohols generally can dissolve the said salts better than acetone with methanol doing the best job, ethanol coming second and IPA third. Even dmt-fumarate is very slightly soluble in IPA.

Thanks for trying these things as well but SWIM believes that there is not much hope for tartaric and malic acid for the moment!

The malate jar got super cloudy, but the cloud slowly dissolved into clear limo again. This might be because dmt tartrate is not soluble in limo, but it is soluble in the limo/ipa mix. Two options would be to heat up the mix and evap the ipa, or add water and hope the tartrate and ipa mix moves into the water layer. SWIM added water to the malate jar, it got very cloudy again, will let settle and see if it works out. It may just work to add malic acid to limo by itself and stir, will try that next time. The tartrate jar has cleared up and there is just this red stuff at the bottom, am thinking of putting that pull in the dehydrator and hoping the ipa evaps (would that work?).
