Ok im a bit confused...

I have for DMT extracting 2 kinds of Naptha. Now Im reading a couple of different stories.
Some say heavy others light, some say Coleman Fuel has rust inhibitors in it.

Coleman Fuel Light Naptha
CAS 64742-49-0
http://www.fireartscollective.com/MSDS2.pdf
CAS 109-66-0
http://www.jtbaker.com/msds/englishhtml/p0737.htm

Terpentine Heavy Naptha
ecn 265-185-4
http://www.owatrol.com/products/EB_msds.pdf

What one is better to use?

Cheers,
V

Those Coleman look ok judging by the MSDS. However, always do a evap first to check for contams.

The Coleman evaps very quickly and leaves no residue.
The Terpintine evaps extremly slowly and leaves no residue.

Coleman site says tho that it contains rust inhibitors...

I personally wouldn't take the risk with anything other then pure light naptha.
Rust inhibitors sound horrible.

Colemans has been known to turn your product blue! I wouldn't use it.

I've never heard of blue colemans, but I'm pretty sure they were using the clear stuff:

Seems to have cleaned up with a couple of re-crystallization and washes. I still wouldn't use it!

VM&P Naptha.

it doesn't have to be a name brand.
the type SWIM uses is made by "klean-strip" and is easily found in the paint thinner aisle of any hardware store, right beside the turpentine and mineral spirits. all it says on the jug is "VM&P Naptha" and the container is dark blue on top and light blue on the bottom.

it also tends to be cheaper as far as she is aware.
