Hey guys, I wasn't sure which forum to post this in, so I hope this is a good place.
I know there's a lot of threads all over the internet about SSRI's and psychedelics. I've studied quite a few, but am looking advice on my current situation.
I am on 3 medications that are known to kill trips; zoloft (ssri), risperidone (anti-psychotic), and klonopin (benzo). I've been on these medications for about 8 years due to fairly severe anxiety and depression. I do not have any psychotic conditions. I was prescribed them at a time when I was going through a particularly rough time in my life. Luckily my doctor is slowly lowering my doses so I am very slowly tapering off of these meds. That said, I doubt I'll maybe ever be in a situation where I take no psychiatric meds. Anxiety and depression is hereditary in my family and medication and therapy has helped, but nothing makes it go away completely.
So here's my situation: despite knowing that psychedelics will be greatly reduced or ineffective because of my medication, I've still tried tripping just to see if it would work. I know that's not the smartest thing to do, but I tried anyway. I've tried LSD, 1P-LSD, 4-ACO-DMT, and ALD-52. None of them had any effect on me. Well...the LSD and 1P-LSD did have a strange effect on me, but I wasn't tripping or seeing visuals or anything like that. In fact, it kind of felt like I took a very strong edible.
Anyway, I guess I'm looking for advice on two things: Would vaping dmt even work on me? and since I'm in a position of changing my medication with my doctor, is there something I could suggest that may not block the effects of psychedelics?
FWIW, I'm not interested in tripping for any partying type reason, I'm very interested in the healing and spiritual aspect of dmt. Also, not sure if this matters, but I do use weed almost every day.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Hey man, hate to be a Debbie downer but i would definitely wait till your doctor can taper you down to nothing or you can take a safe break from your meds, which is still risky because your depression and anxiety will get stronger and you may go thru withdrawal so you might be putting yourself in a bad mind set for doing such a state depending drug. on the other hand if you do it while on your meds i believe youre at risk for serotonin syndrome, from the research ive done for a friend with similar issues, all the info said its very dangerous, even deadly. my friend had recently been diagnosed with depression and was put on paxel, after he realized he would not be able to do psychs while on it he was really bummed, so he had stopped for a week after a month of use in preparation for dmt, and when we did smoke it he had a weird trip for his first time, it was weird because we smoked at the same time and his trip had seemd to been weaker, but it was also his first time so i cant really say since we havnt smoked since or had the urge to and on a positive note he didnt take the medication anymore and seems happier, but im not so sure he needed it in the first place. i guess what i can say is, hyperspace will always be there, when you do go there it is terrifying and hard to achieve perfecting your method takes many tries over a long period of time, id wait till you know its the perfect time and not to rush it, instead do your research, work on your mental well-being, and maybe look into going on a aya retreat rather than smoking it if youre looking for healing.
sorry for the long post, wish you the best man and hope youre safe!

Hello IMO, the first step would be to gradually reduce and eliminate the anti-psychotics, under medical supervision, and learn to integrate the content step by step. My speculation after studying this connection about the endogenous DMT and anti-psychotics.. is that... the hyperconnectivity is there inside, but anti-psychotics block it at the cognitive level; still... anti-psychotics don't block the vibrations happening inside... just prolong a specific configuration. After people reduce the drug amount, the energy becomes active and somehow produces conscious results, and a lot of unconscious stuff pops-out, and they have to manage the hyper-dense content. Google for Sean Blackwell (bipolar or waking up), he is doing some excellent work with so-called bipolar disorder, using breathwork, therapy, and other stuff. It seems that you already have the internal engine activated three years ago or earlier, it is just kept dormant by anti-psychotics. But, I would say to be very careful if you consider reducing the dosage. Step by step, this is the standard protocol for getting off psychiatric drugs, reducing the amount a bit, then 2-3 months see what happens, and so on, in 10 steps or so, 2-3 years maybe. And during the process, the patient has to explore their traumas, do breathwork and bodywork, journaling, therapy... adapt, adapt, adapt... till they reach the point of being able to process their own stuff while life flows through, without any medication. Google for Open Dialogue method also. There are some protocols available in medical and patient communities for coming off psychiatric drugs, here is one https://www.mind.org.uk/...atric-drugs-2016-pdf.pdfIf delusions appear, try to understand what they are. Here is my take on this https://www.consciousnes...-psychiatric-conditions/Hugs O.

I would like to bring everyone's attention to this: https://wiki.dmt-nexus.me/Attitude_PageQuote:Safe and constructive drug talk ...
Also we do NOT give medical advice here (such as telling people not to see doctors and go to shamans for serious medical problems, etc), as this thread explains. Lastly, please read the Health and Safety section and the for contraindications, facts and tips on safety, reducing risks, dealing with difficult experiences, integrating the trips and maximizing benefits.
