It is extremely satisfying and effective to use an immersion blender in the acid-aqueous extraction phase. They are available at thrift shops for $5 etc. and new for about $20. You want the standard head that looks like a blender on the end of a rod with a little cup over it. If you use it with any solvent you get a hopeless emulsion.
Toluene is an ideal solvent from the aqueous phase and seems many are unaware goodies can be washed from it using acid water per below (!) Muriatic Acid (HCL) is the best and the 20% stuff at W-store is great the 30% from H-store is fuming and harsh. This will get you 90% w/i 36 hours, one pull. 100 grams powder, c. 3 cups water for aqueous extraction, 1.5 cup toluene, 1.5 cup water to wash from toluene, 1 cup of hexane or n-heptane, HCL, Lye, pure salt.
Put acid-water in a jar with your root, hit it with the blender a few times. Let it sit an hour or so, hit it again, let it sit, etc. A few hours into it, put your jar in an empty pot in case it breaks. Add toluene. Basify per other teks stir stir, shake shake but relieve pressure. It will separate, let it sit, shake shake, etc... let it sit overnight or whatever.
>>>Separate the toluene, wash-out the goodies into acid water ! <<< Use canning-salt only, never use anything but 100% pure salt, better to not use salt if it is has caking agents, etc.. Put a couple spoonfuls in the jar with the acid water and shake shake rest it shake shake it until the toluene is clear-ish Separate, now the goodies are in the water. Now you can basify it with some NAOH and using typical tek procedures extract into some n-heptane or hexane and evaporate it or freeze it out. Put the toluene back in the water/root jar and do it all again but you get most on the 1st pull.
BTW, Naphtha has high-temperature components. Always pull the MSDS. "Heptane" used in oily-plant extraction can be a mix of 50% heptane, 30% methanol, and 20% acetone. I don't know how it performs. Bestine is pure n-heptane. Turns out, if you use the immersion blender in the acid-aqueous phase a few times today and go with the toluene - water - n-heptane or hexane you can host a large party of leprechauns in a jiffy. You can reuse the toluene and n-heptane.

I have tried blenders, both traditional and immersion blenders and found it an added unnecessary step and equally in effectiveness to shaking for 20 seconds. Yield difference of blending for 5 minutes vs shaking for 20 seconds was negligible. The blender just added more clean up.
