Before I go clicking links, can you briefly explain why they might interest me? All good, but think you may have spaced the notes part?Wink

EDIT: Thanks for adding titles.Thumbs up

Hi notes part is in the working i decided to reread the sources and check new ones. This links are 8 years old from old notes. Info is mainly about neural and mathematical corelates of geometric imagery focused on flicker induction.

Im new to DMT only few mild experinces .I have noticed strong effects of light and color on geometric imagery and nausea. Remember my old notes.

Info in the links can be usefull in theroy to better control the experience.
Use of flickering light can probably increase the geometric imagery on DMT many folds.
There is also a epileptic seizure risk with flickering light so on DMT this can be extra dangerous.
Usage of stimulus in different freqency or out of phase can maybe lower the effects.

I have laying somewhere 2 channel EEG so may be interesting measure brainwaves when geometric imagery happen and use it as biofeedback.

More interesting is possibility that underlying principes will be useful to fine tuning experience based on higher cortical areas --) more complex images and scenes. Maybe use images from google deep dream as flickering stimulus.

Yknow, the DMT imagery revealing some fundamental pattern in our visual processing has been something I've wondered and theorized about often
But I also think being so reductionist kills some of the mystery. So I choose not to think about it Very happy
I don't want comfort. I want God, I want poetry, I want real danger, I want freedom, I want goodness. I want a clever signature.

I sometimes see geometric figures, I saw them last night. For me that's the outlier not the standard other than the recurring "living geometry" which is a an entity. I usually see different places and creatures, when I breakthrough I've been many different places but there is usually no geometry involved. I know it's a common theme but I don't think it's a given.

Hmm, okay. Have you experimented with flicker-induced halluconations on yourself? I have been fascinated with it since being a child and have used many techniques, naturally occuring and artificial to self-generate powerful geometric hallucinations. I can't really speak to the physiological causes for the phenomenon, but it is indeed effective.

Having experienced both DMT and flicker-induced hallucinations fairly extensive I don't think they really have much to do with one another. Flicker hallucinations seem to be centered in the visual cortex whereas DMT visions emerge from something else entirely. I'm not even sure it is in my own brain, and kinda lean to DMT visuals as being generated more through my brain than by my brain and come from... uh, something else I'm not even going to try to get into right now.

The fact that people seem to have very similar DMT visuals- which are for me not just visuals but actually full-sensory and extra-sensory sensations, seems to me to either point toward materialism, if these strange and spiritual experiences are stimulated by measurable physiological processes set in motion by ingestion of the drug that each individual undergoes as a direct consequence, or toward non-materialism, if they are, through those same neurochemical cascades creating the necessary neural ground to communicate with a consciousness not bound to the material consequences of 3-dimensional nature. I obviously have a slanted perspective and my own deeply held ideas around it.

Flicker hallucinations also have a universal aspect in their quality, but I think this is more physical in nature, but I have never been able to do it long enough to achieve any sensation of transcendance as many have described with the technique. It is all really interesting, and I wonder how these two different visual hallucination engines work as opposed or in relation to one another.

For me, combining the two would be overly complicated and would likely be overwhelming, but may be not. I am just not one to be able to maintain consideration for anything I was trying to do once DMT happens. I can't even operate a lighter, but maybe if you have assistance it would not be a problem for you to operate the equipment while getting high.. I honestly prefer as few distractions and as close to silence as I can get when I smoke DMT.

That said, this is all very interesting and I do not mean to dissuade you, any data you produce if you proceed would be great to check out and could be valuable for researchers on DMT, visuals and consciousness.

So far have very limited experience with flicker-induced halluconations due to technical limitations.
Computer screen is not ideal due to refresh rate and low brightnes plan to build some something better controlled. Screen still work as method but is not ideal.

Easiest way how to experience it is look at sun or strong light source with closed eyes and wave hand before eyes fast for about a minute.

I thing neural substrate and principes on DMT and flicker will be very similar at least on lower stages of visual cortex.

Im long time lucid dreamer and use astral and shamanic travel and other techniqes so idea of external data source is not foregin for me. I found that know how sensory procesing work in the brain is usefull to better reach and controll this experinces. If data are from external source the preception of it is still in moust cases limited by reciever, software and architecture.

So far i also didnt find use for them they look nice but in praxe i skip them because is to close to physical vison and limit path forward ad least in lucid dreams inducted from waking state.

Now i plan to explore them more and find if they can be usefull for training of controll and understaning uderlining principes. Work with higher sensory areas is more messy.

Plan to test it on start or end of oral dose. Smoked is probably too fast to get data and better use it for more important stuff. In start and end of oral dose im functional enought to operate some eqipment.

topics i found usefull for praxe of lucid dreaming/astral travel based on sensory procesing
- multisensory integration and is principes
- process of deconceptualization

Have you ever tried making a Dreamachine?

You might see from my avatar that I have something of an interest in entoptic phenomena.

This seems to be a diagram from "A Model for the Origin and Properties of Flicker-Induced Geometric Phosphenes", as per your links. Quite eye-popping when monochrome, a dizzying array of effects arise once one starts playing around with various colour palettes. The possibilities become practically infinite even when sticking to those ten basic forms.

Somehow it links back to another recent thread: https://www.dmt-nexus.me...;t=97763&find=unread

When the science gets too much, we can always resort to poetry Wink

“There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. From this position he has access to the realities which are ordinarily hidden from us by time and space, matter and energy. This is what we call the Great Work."

I'm sure most of you guys have seen this and I hope it's ok to post a youTube link but the Harvard Science of Psychedelics Club had a really interesting talk about the sacred geometry of DMT.

Not this type of dream machine but tested some glases with flickering diodes about 10years ago
problem was device has only few programs with for me unknown setup and i have different goals at the time.

Very interesting talk i have found it few weeks ago by chance. They have more interesting articles on website.

So far found program for basic tests Very happyemo of program Isadora
can setup color and freqency

Interesting possibility for future research is use of tDCS ,tACS ,tRNS electrostimulation with combination with DMT. Audio and vision can influence brainwaves but is still relatively limited to primary sensory areas. With electrostimulation is possible influence almost any part of cortex.
Visual cortex and geometric halucinations is good start.

I have been meaning to respond to this...

There's this online "dream machine" which may or may not be better or worse than something similar online for ages, but I never had luck with the older one. It sounds similar to the program you mention, Isadora?

The hand technique is indeed effective but tiring. There is a machine being made with which some people are creating businesses facilitating some kind of psychedelic experience through the flicker induced hallucination method. I have no clue how effective it is at producing anything other than visuals. Maybe it works. There is a person here in town doing it.

My best experiences have been travelling as a passenger in some kind of vehicle. With perfect conditions including speed, angle and brightness of the sun, and whether it is behind some trees or other regularly spaced obstruction that creates the strobe, it works great. That is rare though.

I have aflashlight with a strobe function and I have tried pointing it at my face and with closed eyes (of course!) look at the flashing light, but it cycles through two different frequencies. I think it needs to be a regular frequency for a certain length of time before anything happens.

Visual cortex and geometric halucinations is good start.

I don't understand, are you trying to find a way to induce DMT like visuals through electro-stimulation? I would like to know what you are trying to achieve or understand, I'm not sure if I have much input for you or not outside of my anecdotal experiences.

Thanks for link it will be usefull for basic tests
Isadora is more complex but also not ideal it have option of only few different waveforms
(sine,swtooth,triangle..) ideal for future is something more complex where is possible desingn more complex waveforms, duty cycle ..

From my experinces 10years ago flickering light was more distracting than usefull for meditation and inner work but it was very limited by device program.

It can definitly be more usefull tahan simple visuals have many experinces with binaural waves
in tune in brain to certain freqecy is usefull . Is no miracle and many claims are overblown but is usefull tool.

Main goal is more like get some more understanding of inter working of the system in the brain to get better controll over experinces with and without DMT. DMT can probably act as great amplyfier to better see inter workings.

This type of electrostimulation can be good tool to direct experience to certain area but its to unfocused to controll details.
Some years ago i tryed to increase chance of Lucid dreaming by electrostimulation of part of brain that is active in lucid dream but not in normal dream. It have some results.
