Diary of a sublingual experiment:

Take-home message: you control the huasca trip like so: DMT steps in the accelerator pedal, MAOi releases the break pedal. Sublingual has a delay come on effect of 15-30 mins of each component, MAOi lasts longer (2-3 hr per dose), DMT less (1-2 hr per dose). There is a stacking of dosages overtime that results in the desired effects (concentration of active alkaloids in body at specific time) which is proportional to the ``level`` of the experience.

To set off you need to take the foot off the break pedal (MAOi comes) first, then accelerate (DMT next). To keep flying, it is required to monitor the rate at which you are accelerating or breaking and dose accordingly. MAOi stacks faster so it needs less frequent spikes, DMT stacks slower so it requires more frequent spiking. Takes some tries to know the frequency of small doses for each compound to either climb higher, stay on the level or go down, always considering the delay effect to avoid hyperdosing.

Second attempt - Saturday - Sunset - At home - Good set and setting - Electronic music is always on (mostly instrumental Rival Consoles - Moderat - Apparat)

30 min prior preparations before consumption: fish oil, half a tab of multivitamins, carnitine, COQ-10, vitamin-C (this is standard procedure for any psychedelic use, preloading with antioxidants)

Immediately before consumption: rigorous mouth washing

1st Consumption: estimated sublingual dose of 30-40 mg of Caapi full spectrum freebase extract (Gibran`s tek), this was a brown powder precipitate (other fractions properly washed were white), no taste whatsoever, some mucosa rubbing with finger went on to help with absorption. No swallowing for at least five minutes, after that then water washing and swallowing.
After about 20 min some subtle altered sensations occurs, feeling some warmth and lightness in the head, strange but not really psychedelic.

30 minutes in - 2nd Consumption: estimated sublingual 30-40 mg of (short story goes like this MHRB to Xylene (MAXion tek) to FASA precipitation then boiling IPA to freeze precipitation), white powder, strongly bitter and somewhat fumaricly salty (more comments on taste later), overwhelming as it dissolves, not really a chef`s dish. After 2 min some numbness felt in most affected mucosa. Hard not to swallow since it immediately induces salivation. At least 2 min in mouth before swallowing.

30 mins after sublingual DMT (1 hr after MAOi), definite CEV observed, enhanced colours, light OEV (as TV screen static).
Then start to liberally vape from a 10 mg of Xylene to FASA to freebase convertion diluted in 1 ml of nicotine free E-juice in a standard drip atomizer to raise the psychedelic effect.

1 hr after sublingual DMT (1 1/2 hr after MAOi), strong CEV and OEV that are the same, some confusion but very strong psychedelic feelings, letargic but pleasant body sensations, very light gastrointestinal uneasiness.

1 and 1/2 hr after sublingual DMT, feels like the peak intensity is either in or just about coming, vaping consistently intensifies the CEV-OEV and psychedelia, music is just perfectly elaborate and detailed, the contour of objects and colour gradients seem cell-shaded, talking is difficult, movement is drunk-like. Very pleasant sensations.

2 hr after sublingual DMT, coming down fast. At this point vaping does not increase psychedelic state, barely keeps the level. This is the moment MAOi stops working altogether. Basal cognitive state feels close, head completely clears up the mental confusion.

Between 1:30 and 2 hr in of sublingual DMT comes the crucial time to either stop or catch another wave:

Another 30 mg MAOi is licked, 10 min after then another 30 mg DMT is licked. Vaping liberally continues from the original 1 ml of 10 mg/ml solution, the fast effects are felt quickly and feels easy to dose out.

1 hr after the second sublingual doses and its a more intense wave from the sublingual, OEV-CEV return fast, no confusion, thinking is clearer than before but vision gets overwhelmed by OEV, objects contours flow, wave still feels like coming up.

5 mg sublingual MAOi plus 5 mg DMT is then licked every 30-40 mins over the course of the 2 hours that follow. This extra spiking plus vaping seems to gradually increase psychedelic effects without completely overwhelming. Some discomfort in gastrointestinal or liver is felt, but totally bearable.

At 2 hr after second sublingual dose (roughly 4 hr in from the first) some concentration or psychedelic level is breached through where it feels a LOT like at least 25 mg smoked freebase peak experience, OEV-CEV is predominant, walking becomes difficult, talking is difficult, not impossible though, lying down closing eyes and observing or meditating leads to ego dissolution easily, if you let go you just go effortlessly and become the thoughts-OEV-CEV, which is kind of scary. Everything is blending into everyother thing. Very exotic trance like state. Lasts for at least 20 minutes.

After this point, decision is: no more MAOi consumption, the aircraft must go down safely. Vaping still goes on liberally though (smoking anything feels very good).

At 4 hr after second sublingual dose (and 2 hr after last MAOi contained spike), heavily psychedelic vibe still going but mellow, this lasts for another hour or so, then dinner is eaten and some type of higher than baseline is achieved until sleep which came easily.

Hard to perfectly estimate, but consumption for the night was approximately 100-120 mg MAOi and 100 mg DMT sublingual (then swallowed-oral obviously) and something like 20-30 mg of vaped freebase. Felt like a proper long psychedelic event, instead of a fast incursion when smoking just 30 mg of freebase. This was the goal, to be able to administer DMT-MAOi combos with minimal waste and minimal body discomfort.


Taste notes: Straight Xylene derived FASA precipitants after very thorough drying tastes really bad, the Xylene taste mixed with the unnatural DMT taste makes it even worse. Straight chloroform derived FASA precipitants after thorough drying have a lovely taste, sweet plus cold then the bitter and tarty fumaric DMT kicks in, its a blast. This is all due to solvent inevitably trapped within the fumaric-DMT crystals, only way to remove it is by recrystallization in a different solvent which leads us to boiling IPA cleanup TEK (dunno the proper name or the exact post). Xylene then FASA requires IPA cleanup to have a bearable and simpler taste for sublingual which is just tarty-salty and bitter, can easily become an acquired taste.


Have to thank Gibran for the `tip` on sublingual MAOi and his TEK, this was perfect. Have to thank everyone that took time and effort to post or edit and compile posts to crystallize all of the other TEKs.

Thanks for the thorough and accessible write-up of your experiments. It seems that sublingual MAOI is a useful way of economising with harmalas.

One thing I would suggest for science's sake is to try the experiment without the DMT vaping (this will have to be fitted into my schedule sometime as well!) The vaping confounds getting a clear picture on the combo of sublingual MAOI followed by sublingual DMT.


It seems that the off-putting taste of xylene/FASA material could be one argument for trying an ethyl acetate extraction of DMT, which otherwise as an extraction method offers no special advantages.

Yes, vaping incorporates another factor into the experiment that is hard to account for in the total scheme of things, however, very little was consumed compared to the sublingual DMT doses, it is impossible that the intense peaks of the experience were due to vaping alone (20-30 mg over 6 hr or so vs 100-120 mg of sublingual). In this setup, vaping or changaing seems good to quickly increase the psychedelic effects to a desirable level since it has something like 1-2 minutes come on delay, but at the concentration used (10 mg/ml), it can`t increase too much of the psychedelia.

Just like to point out that clear white 10 mg freebase was dissolved in 1 ml of VG70%-PG30% medium nicotine-free with flavour, this requires warming and mixing of the e-liquid in a water bath to actually dissolve the freebase.

Never smelled or tasted ethyl-acetate. Butanol-FASA material is the most horrible taste of all, after boiling IPA reprecipitation it turns out just like Xylene-FASA-IPA material which appears to be close to `pure` DMT fumaric salt taste.
