[Survey] Exploring Psychedelic Experiences: Reasons for use and Long-term Effects Options

Update (21/01/2023) - The research project has finally been completed. Took soooooooo long but I got it done. Thank you to all of those who participated. Link to the thesis can be found here http://dx.doi.org/10.26021/13872
All data is open source (links are in thesis) for anyone interested in the full interview transcripts or quantiative data from the online survey. The thesis packed in alot, could have been a PhD but decided that would take too long. There's a lot of good general stats for the average user in the appendices for people interested in general use patterns. Welcome any feedback, comments, or questions.

Hello Nexians,

My name is Andrew McGahan and I am a researcher at the University of Canterbury (New Zealand) conducting a study on the effects of psychedelic use on individual’s self-understanding (i.e. insight into one’s own inner workings).

This survey explores reasons why people use psychedelics, different types of psychedelic experiences, various set and setting factors and their effect on psychedelic experiences, and the long-term impact psychedelics have had on people’s beliefs, behaviours, attitudes and world view. We understand this is a broad topic and this survey is but a small step towards a more systematic understanding of the psychedelic process.

All data gathered will be completely anonymous.

The interview portion of this research project is now complete (thank you to all those who participated in the interviews). But please still do complete the online survey because you're awesome! Thumbs up

Thank you for your supporting psychedelic science!

I took your test! I didn't even study!

That was a bit time consuming but found it provided opportune time for me to think about the ends and outs of my psychedelic usage recently and in the past. It's good to look into your vitals from time to time.

Oil is good! Replacing the dipstick now.

VROOM! VROOM!

Hope that helps your cause!! Glad to help anything in regards to psychedelics!

Thank you Poe, your contribution is very much appreciated. I also agree, being prompted to reflect on one's usage every now and again can be helpful. It's not always so easy to be motivated to spend the time and think through the many aspects psychedelics play in our lives or how we use them.

I've started it but haven't had a chance to finish yet (I've been very busy the last week). I'll have it done sometime within a few days.

Good to see more data being compiled Thumbs up

Cheers Spiral. Your partially completed questionnaire should last 1 week, after that it gets automatically deleted.

That was rather long, but absolutely worth my time.

Looking forward to see what conclusions/suggestions can be drawn from the data!

I'm glad to hear that Trypens. There are a lot of questions that we can ask the data once we're finished collecting. I think it's going to be quite interesting.
