Brothers and sisters,

How does one find a spiritual teacher/guide? I really have no idea so I thought reaching out here might be a good start. Let me add that I'm not looking for a source. I have my own supply of hyperdrive fuel. I'm about the knowledge one can only find sitting with someone that's traveled the path I want to take. If you know good people or organizations in my area please reach out to me. I live in Phoenix, Arizona

There is term in dharmic philosophies. The term is guru-tattva. The meaning is roughly: the truth (tattva) about the teacher (guru). The point I want to make is that the guru (teacher) manifests in various different ways. One of the ways is another human being which can part certain teachings unto you. There are many other ways as well - many examples can be given from nature around us. The sun, the moon, the earth, the wind, the sky, the child, many of the animals and plants, etc. There's the inner teacher of every soul as well.

The main point I want to make is that the guru/teacher is always present for everyone in many different forms. The external human teacher in only one of them. Most important in my understanding is that the student/sadhaka cultivates the student-like mindset which will enable him/her to recognize the teachings he/she is receiving from the environment.

I general I would advise against becoming a part of spiritual/religions organizations.

What is the path you want to take ?

It did kind of sound like I was looking for a cult.Very happy The path I want to take? That's a good question friend. The best answer I can give is the path I haven't taken before. I don't want to imply that i'm unhappy or disgruntled. But in the last year as I started to experiment with psychedelics there's been a sea change in my belief systems. As an example I never gave much relevance to reincarnation but now I can lean into Buddhist teachings comfortably. 4th or higher density beings I wouldn't say I don't believe. The "Seth books" or "The law of one" Ra materials book resonates with me on some level. Plus meditation is a part of most days of my life. So maybe a better way to sum this up is I have a general openness to learning that I never had before with no life training to help apply it. And I got to tell you brother that this 48 year old former Marine is walking in some unknown territory. So the idea of surrounding myself with like minded people felt like a right move so I made this post.....But try and google "spiritual/religions organizations in my area" and see what madness you get.

It's not always easy to surround yourself with like minded people. In this regard the DMT-nexus does help a lot to fill a certain void.

Psychedelics are tools that can be used in various ways. One way is to dissolve your current beliefs and achieve openness for new ones. From my experience I can tell you that I used psychedelic at least twice to make major shifts in my beliefs and worldview. With the second dissolving I dissolved what I achieved with the help of psychedelics for the first time. Of course there are other factors for example what is the new story/belief you make for yourself after the dissolve. So the thing can be quite dynamic. Basically psychedelics are in my experience mostly neutral tools, though that's not always the case.

Most likely it would be best to just carry on exploring and to see what resonates the most with you. Smile

From my own research and practice I can suggest exploring deeply what I call the dharmic traditions. That would be hinduism, buddhism, jainism. Of course there are various branches in each of those and each has certain specifics. But the core remains the same. Therefore I call them dharmic traditions since all of those very much deal with dharma. These are a hugely vast topic and it's best to know beforehand that it can take time to really digest the information, so you don't get frustrated if you feel you're not quite getting there. Smile

In anyway having a down to earth practice that you do very regularly and that helps you is very very crucial. Smile

Triglav,

I appreciate your words and I want you to know that I read them very carefully. If you could recommend a book on the dharmic philosophies I'd appropriate an suggestions.

I very much wish you lived in my area brother. Very happy
