Political prisoners is absolutely correct, although the politics today has largely changed since the 70s (although Ross Ulbricht not so much..). Political prisoners are sent to some of the cruelest prisons in the country, (CMUs, do a bit of googling), which is a horrific form of psychological torture. Often the people you find there today are islamic terrorists, or 'domestic terrorists' as environmental movement types. In most cases for the people who end up in these units, clearly experiencing punishment not fit for the crime. It's been shown pretty clearly, the best way to end up in one of these places is if the government doesn't like your politics, or sees you as a potential leader in a movement they don't like, you will end up in one of these places. It goes without saying that this kind of thing is unconstitutional, yet it is blatantly ongoing, whilst people are distracted by whatever is on CNN.
I don't see Ross as innocent by any means, but can someone explain to me how he gets 40 + years in prison without chance of parole, while the TWO corrupt DEA agents working on the case who laundered 400k in stolen bitcoins , while obstructing justice and lying to the FBI, get only 6 1/2 years? and they will get out in 2 with good behavior. Probably got to keep the cash too. smh
