Well it is just the basic procedure - just place your material in a glass container and then add a little Heptane and heat your solution up until it is boiling. You will see that it may dissolve over time - add more Heptane if you think that the dissolvation process has come to an end.
Normally you would do this until everything has dissolved and by just adding tiny bits of solvent you should have a well saturated solution. If your Spice contains some major other compounds, then you will maybe experience brownish goo on the bottom of your glass.
Decant your Heptane and place it in a second Jar. Close that second jar and place it in the freezer - after some minutes you will see the solution become cloudy and when the solution is clear you will know that everything precipitated and sunk to the bottom of the jar. Then just collect the crystals by decanting the surfactant heptane.
You can also put the same Heptane in the first jar with the brown goo and heat it up again and repeat to make sure you get everything out.
And remember: Heptane will still hold at like 200 mg Spice for every 100 ml. So if you used 200 ml of Heptane and only recrystallized 500 mg of Spice, then it may be smart to evap the Naphtha a little further before placing it in the freezer.
