have you ever taken that ferry from San Francisco to Berkeley and looked back and seen that while in Berkeley, San Francisco doesn't exist?

Reminds me of the common name "Ubulawu" for Silene capensis.

I love ubuntu! Have been missing it recently because my classes require that I have the adobe suite, which only runs on windows. That's one of the main things i'm missing on windows, the 3d desktop, you'd be surprised how much more productive you are when you can just flip over yer cube and start a whole 'nother track of development.

What is that window manager called again? I have ubuntu sitting on a partition here but I can't access it at the moment, need to fix the bootloader.

BTW: Why are you not using XMMS?! seriously!

fedora loads in less that 20s
but that's not what makes it better

it has more flexibility, security features (SE linux), and an advanced file system.
Fedora is considered to be "bleeding edge" tech, it's much more innovative.

ubuntu is more user-friendly, like apple of linux
fedora is more advanced.

it's actually intermediate in terms of flexibility. Gentoo, Arch, and Suse are very flexible, but not quite as cutting-edge.
ubuntu is not as flexible, and their update cycles are not as frequent as fedora. however, ubuntu releases are rather stable

*edit* you know what, if your OS does what you want it to, AND is fun, stick with it. Smile
Ubuntu is the most popular distro because it is so user-friendly.

ubuntu loads damn fast as well, and it has a much better package management system than fedora, in my opinion anyhow. Always ran into dependency issues using fedora or any flavor of it. I would like to know what about Fedora is "bleeding edge" though, and what fancy filesystem is it using? Does fedora still use RPM's like back in the redhat days? RPM's were my worst nightmare back when I was exploring the different flavors.

Keeping your system up to date, adding new software with ubuntu is a cinch, even if it aint in the main repo's, adding a new repo is easy, and .debs are everywhere.
