1) I've been reading from some forum posts that you should keep rolling the oil burner back and forth not only when you heat it, but also as you inhale.

I've also seen a very low quality video of someone named "Dragon" rolling as he smoked DMT. How do you keep rolling it when you're inhaling? Doesn't it chafe on your lips?

2) Also, I've heard some say you should heat the oil burner before you load it. Would you agree?

3) Finally, what's your preferred method of heating it? Candle or lighter?

4) Should you blow some of the vapor out of the oil burner before inhaling? The guy in the aforementioned video seems to do that before he inhales the pipe. I don't know if he's doing that for style, or if there's some practical function to it.

True, but let me preface everything else by saying that oil burners are inefficient even if you get good with them, and not that great even if you become a pro. Too much possibility to burn the DMT.


You don't actually have to roll it in your lips — you can tilt your entire head, silly.

A tweaker explained to me the procedure for using meth pipes. First, torch lighters rock, but either way, you heat up a spot on the RIGHT (or left) side of the bulb, not on the bottom. Get it real hot. Then once you do that, put the flame under the spice and let it melt. Then rock it toward that super hot-spot you previously created. When it gets to that spot it will explode into smoke which you inhale, then rock it back to the starting point, and keep going back and forth.


Sound like horrible advice. I could just imagine the DMT bursting into vapor the second I drop it in. Maybe the notion is to make it slightly warm, just enough to melt the DMT into a liquid. But why bother?



Torch lighter. You need to be precise where you aim your heat.


I've seem people do it just a little bit to ensure that they are getting a good stream of smoke ... or maybe they know something I don't. If you have the lung capacity, take it all in, I say.

Having said all that let me say again that if you are going to get into this seriously you need to invest in a GVG. The problems with the meth pipe method are numerous. You're going to get a really big hit one day and forgot to exhale, and go to another universe, and when you come back find yourself coughing your lungs up. It's so much nicer to come back to a comfortable physical body.

Gloss put it very well and speaking from experience, the meth pipe is not a very efficient ROA for DMT. I tried it out the fist time I tried DMT and it did not go well. If you don't want to invest in a GVG, there is always enhanced leaf or changa which can be smoked out of a standard bong.

I use to use an oil burner bubbler, it worked pretty good. I tried a regular oil burner that was just a stem and I found that if your not careful with the heat the smoke can be very harsh and hot, I didn't have very good experience with those. For some reason the bubbler oil burner was decent. I agree with the others that changa is a good way to go for smoking.

I've seen loads of people use an oil burner - usually used with a standard cigarette lighter - and, yes, they always seem to twist it while vaping. But also it always burns the spice, it's very difficult to control the intake and I can't imagine how they clean the thing after. Just not the right tool for the job. A (G)VG and torch lighter is simplicity itself.

First off, thanks to everyone for answering my questions. Had no idea about a lot of this.

Second, this is my first time hearing about a GVG pipe. Everytime I've read about inhaling DMT, the oil burner's been the recommended method. I'm going to read some topics and return with some questions. I'm sure I'll have a lot.

BTW, I did not know that you're supposed to heat the side of the oil burner. But if so, why do you move the heat to the bottom afterward? Why not keep it on the side from start to end.

I'll definitely get a GVG if that's recommended. Just to make sure I'm looking at the same product you're recommending, is the "GVG" the Glass Vapor Genie? If so, which model? The Sherlock or the Bat? Sherlock is $120 and Bat is 65.

All you need is a standard j-hook pipe, a detachable bowl, some scrubber or a liquid pad and something you can use as a heat sink.
In the most simple way, just two hang in pipe screens, a little better would be one of those screens and some
