Hello everyone! Smile

About 2 weeks ago I started a STB extraction following BLAB's tek (without the acidification step). I left 400g of MHRB in 300g of lye (and water) for 4 days, adding limonene after 2 days. I knew my bark wasn't very good, but I was hoping to achieve at least 1g from that amount, when I saw my limonene turn orange I thought it had worked. I pulled, did a vinegar salting and left the vinegar to evaporate. I'm familiar with this method and got the exact same results (visually and even in the scent) I'd get with a better bark, the honey-like dmt acetate.
As usual I proceeded to infuse it on my herbs, I put 0.3g of herbs and ended up with 1.2g of final product after the alcohol evaporated. At last, it worked. However when I got down to smoke it I got no effects. When burned it smelled more like herbs than actual dmt.

Another 4 days after that I did another pull as the limonene was orange again. Same procedure, I put back this batch of herbs (now weighing 1g) and added another 0.3g of new plant material. After evaporation I got 2.1g (a very nice ratio, considering only 0.6g is herbs). This time I smoked 0.5g and got nothing again, a little heavier on the body than the first batch, but still, it should be stronger considering the dmt ratio. I think it's the quality of the bark, what I find odd is that the results indicate it's dmt until the moment you smoke it! And if it's not dmt, what could those 1.5g be?

1. Did you take the time to convert your acetates to freebase before making changa?
Seems like the biggest culprit, the spice may just be difficult to vaporize correctly as a salt.

2. Maybe you have pulled very impure DMT & it needs cleaned up quite a bit in order to get a large enough dose for full effects. Maybe try a new extraction & cleanup then convert to freebase for smoking.

3. If those are not the problem, maybe your bark is from the wrong tree entirely or the wrong part of the right tree.

I think potentially some combination of 1 & 2 is what you are experiencing. 3 is the ladt thing to take into consideration if all else fails.

1. I use heat to freebase the acetate, my vinegar evaporates in a warm bath. Even if I didn't, I've smoked dmt acetate before and it was pretty active, less visual and more body effects, but still something!

2. How can I clean the DMT?

3. The vendor swears it's root bark, but I can't say that for sure.

Thank you for the theories, I'm still puzzled by this.

DMT salts are not ideal for smoking, in fact, dmt fumurate (one of several DMT salt forms) is dangerous to smoke, for the record. Also, using heat to freebase your alkaloids is only a theory at this point in time.

I also spent some time smoking dmt-acetate and let me tell you, after a while, it became quite unpleasant. Please freebase your product in a proper, scientifically acceptable way...for instance, at the end of the BLAB tek, it has an acetates conversion. This made a world of a difference in experience for me. But that is me, so do what you will...I can only offer up what I have been through and nothing more...

Peace to you, friend!
