x25 Peganum Harmala for Changa Options

Hey guys...

I have read the Changa forum section page to page, I am very interested in making my own. I have just managed to source 3.5 grams of x25 Peganum Harmala "Syrian rue extract"...

I have some mullein, mugwort, blue lotus, passion flower, skullcap, Pau D'arco and the spice.

I also have a bottle of IPA 70%....

Through this forum I have become aware of the benefits of each of the herbs, infact; owing to information garnered from this site, I have been using Pau D'arco to deal with a medical condition I have, called LPR. LPR is a gastric issue that causes continual discomfort in my throat due to reflux, and the Pau D'arco tea has worked incredibly well.. after 5 days of 2 cups a day, my LPR is virtually gone... it's amazing amazing AMAZING stuff.

So back to Changa...

I'm not as well versed as many here regarding MAOi's, so I would like to know what would be a recommended mix that I can start with.

Also prep, if anyone here could provide some information with regards to the amount of IPA I should use and how long I should wait after thoroughly drying the mix... I have read that a couple of weeks improves the "curing"...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have not been lazy, I have read all of the stickies in the Change section, I just want to ensure that I don't over do anything and so call on the Nexians for their experience.

Thanks guys/girls.

I don't think you want to use 70% ipa, ethanol is a better choice, I use ever clear and it works great. Ethanol is food grade, I think manufacturers put stuff in ipa so people don't drink it and might make your changa taste like crap.

As for ratios, myself I use a 1:1:1, 1 part herb blend-1 part harmalas-1 part spice. I like the effects of heavy harmala alkaloids.

Curing is a must just like with a good bud.
I put my spice and harmalas in 25ml of ethanol and slowly heat until everything dissolves, spice dissolves almost instantly whereas the harmalas needs a little heat to get it to dissolve completely and then add the already mixed herbs in with it. If it doesn't cover the herb then add more ethanol drop wise until it's just covered then mix well and then set somewhere with plenty of air flow to dry. When you think it's dry place in glass jar with lid cracked open for curing process. Then enjoy a couple weeks later.
This method has worked very well for me.
Good luck friendThumbs up

No. This is not a must. It's perfectly fine to use when it has fully dried.

Everything is always okay in the end, if it's not, then it's not the end.

Ok, let me rephrase that, curing is a must for me.
I usually have plenty on hand so a minor wait during curing means absolutely nothing.

Anyway thanks for the clarification Steppa

And good luck SyK!

Thanks guys much appreciated...

Do either of you know how powerful x25 Peganum Harmala is, and what sort of ratio mix I should be using. If I prepare a gram of spice, with a mixed gram of 3 ingredients let say, Blue Lotus, Mullein and Harmala extract... I just don't want to put too much of the Harmala in and end up going on a 3 week tour of hyperspace Smile.... thanks again guys!!..

Have you checked if your peganum (not perganum) harmala extract is a salt or a freebase? For use in changa you need freebase alkaloids, both for the dmt and the harmalas.

Preferences vary about the ratio of herb : dmt : harmala, but I mostly see numbers like 3:2:1, 2:1:1 or even 1:1:1 mentioned here.

Don't worry about the strenghth of changa due to harmalas. Apart from doubling the duration of the come up and the main effects, the most striking difference with straight dmt is that changa smoked shortly after a previous dose can work cumulatively much more so than straight dmt does.

The real surprise effect that you worry about is when ingesting 150 mg or more of harmala salts orally and then, after 45 minutes when it has taken effect, smoking dmt. But in that case you'd have far more harmalas in your body than you'll get from smoking changa. Smoked harmalas can be effective starting at 15 mg.

Please edit your post, no source talk allowed. In fact you already used borderline bad wording in the first post of this thread.

Anyway the description on the site you posted is pretty worthless. Claims:
- harmalas are MAOI that help psychoactive substances cross the blood brain barrier; (they just make this up, the blood brain barrier has nothing to do with it.)
- that the name "rue" stems from greek "ρεω"; (it stems from "ruta".)
- that classical greek "ρεω" (and they misspel it too) means to "set free"; (it means "flow". The word "λυω" means "to set free".)

The above are just trivia, but more seriously, they advise people to ingest 8 to 10 grams of syrian rue seeds. That is too much for starters.

And they don't tell you if the extract is a freebase or a salt. Or if alkaloids like vasicine have been filtered out.

Good luck with your "souvenir". I would not want to bring home "souvenirs" from that place.

I just glanced at the pegamum harmala section of wikipedia page for harmalas, which indicates "In one study, total harmala alkaloids were at least 5.9% of dried weight"

If this isnt too freakish of an outlier for potency, then 25x should be pure/almost pure alkaloids, right?

Nope, it means that for each 25 grams of seeds processed, 1 gram of extract was obtained.

It does not imply that the extract contains only alkaloids or even only the desired harmala alkaloids. There could be all kinds of plant particles, proteins, polyphenolics, lipids from the rue and even substances used in the extraction process, like sodium chloride or sodium carbonate, present in the 25x extract.
