Started off with 1L of water, 7table spoons of lye. Added .5lbs of powdered MHRB.
Waited an hour, threw in 300ml of naphtha. Separated instantly but i waited 20 minutes. I ended up using a whole liter of naphtha and evaporating it only to find absolutely no dmt on my tray. Must have not stirred the naphtha in correctly/enough.

Added 500more ml of water, some more lye. Let sit for a bit. Added 150ml of naphtha. Shook the jar like crazy. Waited 24 hours, naphtha was not separating. Added more water and lye, not separating. Tried tapping, heating, adding pure salt. Not separating.

Switched containers to a wider one, added another ~500ml of water with some more lye. Still not separating. In total, at this moment. I have about 2L of water, with probably 300 grams of lye in there. Still not separating. I just added about 200ml of Naphtha, and its just sitting at the top right now doing nothing.g

I know i have at least 400ml of naphtha in there. It just won't separate.

Try setting it in a heat bath, and leaving it alone for a day. By adding and mixing each time, one hasn't let the emulsion begin to break up. At first, not enough lye or water was used, and it may take a bit longer for the lye to break down fully, when adding it to MHRB sludge. SWIM has noticed that this can create hot spots in the jug, when adding the lye after the MHRB and lye water are mixed. If one sets it in a heat bath, and continues to leave it sit, it should separate, although it could take overnight, even. By shaking it very hard, it can create air bubbles that take a long time to break up, but rest assured, if you leave it alone in a heat bath, it will eventually separate. Also, in a larger container, 150 mls of naphtha is barely noticeable on the top. With the added naphtha, it should separate, but it may just take a long time. The amount of water recommended in Noman's tek for 227g of MHRB (or .5 lbs) would be 3405 mls or at least 3L. SWIM has gotten away with much less, but some powdered bark is sludgy, and if the soultion is too thick, it will take an extremely long time to separate, but it will if left long enough, and always remember, every reaction happens faster with heat.

check the FAQ Smile

is there an emulsion in between naphtha and mimosa, or is it distinct two layers?

Time is your friend ...the more you mess with it the more its not going to seperate.... one main key is to stop lookig at this as reaction and look at the project as an extraction ... which will take weeks. The last one that swim did took a month till he was satisfifed there was nothing there. Pulling the naptha every four days to a week.

Ive added a bunch more water and lye lately. As well as an entire liter of naphtha now swimming in there as well. Its just one big mess that's not separating. I have at least 300grams of lye in there now. There's also a bunch of pure salt floating around as well. I've checked the FAQ and done everything. I know i now have more than enough water, and more than enough naphtha in there. So the only thing left to do is heat it in a bath or add more lye. I'll stick it in my bathtub for the next 7 hours and see if it gets anywhere.

I think there is an emulsion layer, not quite sure tho.
