Wow, didn't know there was one. UK only? I saw a total eclipse when i was a kid, it is so strange! A really neat thing is, the fact that tiny holes in leaves act like pinhole cameras and project little images of the sun. Look on the sidewalk and you'll see a bunch of circles of light, that what that is. As the sun eclipses, these circles become crescents, etc. Its a safe, cool way to watch the progression.

And then the polarizing effect during totality is bizarre. I recall a stillness, birds stopped singing, the whole world was caught in a nether world, off balance.

Think its mainly northern Europe, the last one we had was 1999 and that was a very strange feeling, it quickly went dark and suddenly very cold. Eclipses are very much a source of intrigue these days but its funny to think only a few hundred years ago they created intense panic and sacrifices etc!

I'm sure I'll get to check pic's of it out, there will be a total eclipse in 2017 maybe 80 miles from where I am, definitely have made plans to go check it out. Happy viewing tomorrow fellasSmile

Camera obscura pics at the climax (~30 % sun). Sky is cloud free, but the scenery is like there are clouds at the sky. Not that spectacular. 2nd one, cam + floppy disk filter after the climax.

Was pretty uneventful where I was, the heavy cloud totally obscured any sight of it at all. It went a bit dark but that was about it really!
