minimum water:bark ratio? Options

let's say you had 1 L of water to play with. what's the max. amount of root bark you could throw in it, and still be able to extract everything you wanted. 66g-ish would be about 15 mL of water for every gram of root bark. 100g would be 10 mL of water for every gram of rootbark.

i hear a lot of people talk about doing like 10:1 water:MHRB but others say 15:1 is necessary. Some I even see doing less than 10:1

basically this question arrises because currently my total volume is limited by the size of my glass container.

SWIM likes to stay with the 1:10:1 (mimosa:water:lye) range.

It is possible to go lower but, you start running into this problem
where your naptha will seem to dissapear Smile.
Really, it's getting trapped in the thick solution.
SWIM's done this before and has had it take days to float back to the top...
When it actually did anyway .. He was normally stuck adding more water.

If you want a good container, go to walmart or something and buy a giant jar of pickles.
Empty and wash that sucker out and there ya go.
SWIM's done a whole pound in one of these before lol... Though it was a little thick.
Just make sure if you do that, mix your lye/water in a plastic container first.
SWIM has had his pickle jars crack before.

I reiterate his fictional ramblings word for word to be a nice guy.

yeah , I did the 1:15:1 = bark:water:lye ... and it was really hard to disolve all the lye.
So, I dont recomend to use less than 15mL H2O per gram of Lye, and if you keep Lye cristals in the juice you can hurt the Dmt, i thinkso... But maybe you do can change the bark amount, I mean, why dont to use more bark? Maybe it forms some emulsion, i dont know, but chemicaly it changes nothing, or am I wrong?

But you should wait for a experienced voice anyway...

I mostly do around 1:6:1/2 for 50gr stb (considering the basified water i add afterwards).. but as tropane stated above^^ solvent takes some time to rise up totally. Never tried a much higher ratio tho. So in 1.2 liter of water i would add ~200gr mhrb and 80-100g lye probably... but its not always good to stick to these ratios i guess, pH needs some experimenting until you find a gud ratio for urself imo.

Find out for yourself.
Put 50g of lye and 50g of bark in a liter of water, if that stays free flowing after letting it sit for awhile, add another 25g of each, wait, and keep doing it until the solution gets thick. Then add measured amounts of water until the solution is back to free flowing.
Presto, Now you know the answer for your particular batch of bark more surely than any "expert" could tell you.
A good big cheap container is one of those plastic jugs that scoopable cat litter comes in. They're HDPE, and scoopable cat litter is a handy thing to have around in this business.

The water ratio seems to be important only after you add your non-polar solvent. You see if you do not have enough, you do not get layers, you get 1 glob that never separates. Adding water resolves this issue, so I believe that is why the 1:15:1 is there.

I think I'm witnessing this at the moment.
Last time I made spice I used a mrs balls chutney bottle. but I used 50g of bark each time.
It always took ages to seperate and would form an emultion before long.

This time, I thought, I'd just do 30g, but I used exactly the same size bottle, etc... so much diluted.
Lol, now it seperates so fast its hardly worth while leaving the kitchen.

Last time I didn't HAVE to heat it quite as much, but this time around I got a blank on the first cold pull, but getting nice pulls with heat... still from the same 30g, sent my way by phlux.

I never use heat ever.
