I would like to make some changa but do not have clean ethanol. The one I bought contains at least 90% ethanol plus some kerosene, bitrex and naphtha. Not sure if this is ok to use. I will do some evap test of course but wanted to ask for advise.

For example I have no idea what bitrex is and if thats big no no. Any experience with that ?

I just did the evap test. First the ethanol disappeared very quick then some little drops of something were left behind. Those also went quite quick and left only a tiny film behind so tiny that you can hardly see that.

If you cannot clean it up with a distillation, you should find yourself some medicinal alcohol, 95% pure and without adulterants. Chances are too big that you will ruin the changa with the stuff you're describing.

You can't just use isopropyl? It's cheap, simple to dry, no additives, etc.
Even a high proof vodka would work well without risk of contamination.

I guess I will have to get IPA not so easy to find here but I will try that.

Vodka is not only water and alcool and i wouldn't like to smoke the other components left in changa like sugars and whatnot. On the other hand, i could use it to clean something (like my vaporizer) as at the end i can rince with water the left over.

You can always try the solvent free method

Its good advise but I did not want enhanced leaf I wanted changa with harmalas. I don't thing harmalas would dissolve in water

Anyhow I have already found clean ethanol and made changa its drying right now.
