I am attempting to extract from some homegrown obtusifolia (~350g phyllodes outer stem bark), did 4 1.5 - 2 hour boils in vinegar/water 1:4. Then based with sodium carbonate, everything was going well up til this point.

When I put the alkali in the acid water I perceived no colour change which from my past experience I expected to see. Perhaps stupidly I pressed on and poured on my warm naptha but didn't think that the naptha would sink under a layer of bubbles.

I collected the bubbles with a spoon but it has a definite naptha smell to it so atm its drying out and I was going to re a/b this. I now have another naptha pull sitting in it and it has more bubbles but I think these are plant fats.

Ill attach some pics, any pointers? It sucks because this was going to be my first changa blend made entirely by myself. The harmala extraction is going flawlessly but this dmt extraction is doing my head in Big grin

Um, carbonate plus acid = lots of bubbles... They'll carry particulates into the naphtha. It might be a bit more time-consuming to clean up, but you'll be OK in the end.

Have you found defatting to be unnecessary when using these phyllodes?

“There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. From this position he has access to the realities which are ordinarily hidden from us by time and space, matter and energy. This is what we call the Great Work."
