So my imaginery friend Bob told me to write the following, this is about him

After many failed attempts someone advised Bob to use hot (not warm, HOT) water, Bob tried this w/ a very small amount of naphta and after a messy transfer he only got 15mL extracted, he left this to evap but for the first time, he had yellow naphta, from this he got some residue, it wasn't a lot but it was very clear Bob had extracted something at last.

Bob was using a huge flat dish so the little amounts were spread too thin to really pick up, anyway from this 15mL, Bob got more than he had when trying to evap amounts well over 50mL.

After some research, Bob found that yellow naphta indicates plant oils and fats, Bob guesses if plant oils and fats are being extracted, so is spice.

Bob will do his next pull w/ a good 50mL in the same way doing near boiling water (he found boiling water too be a little too hot)

Bob just wanted to see what SWIY thought

btw, Bob would really like to know the answer to this, when naphta cools down, spice falls out, so if u warm ur naphta during the initial extraction and let it come back to room temp before isolating, won't some spice fall out?
Everything I say is in reference to my Imaginary Friend who does things in an Imaginary World and none of it should be taken seriously.

At the start of this I'm gonna point to your naptha volume. Yes, use more on the next one, it will have an effect.

Assuming your bark is not bunk, that's correct, and what I was explaining to you about saturated solutions and temperatures. At higher temperatures your naptha can hold a greater volume of spice, at those higher temperatures you're probably going to get some oils/fats which leads into your next question

If you use boiling water to heatbathe your naptha, the odds that your naptha will have reached room temp by the time you have separated it from your aqueous solution are very low. Additionally, this is why you do multiple pulls using hot naptha, to guarantee you pull as many of the active alkaloids as possible.
