SWIM's problems locating reasonably priced naphtha Options

SWIM can't find the "normal" products that have naphtha in them. Is there another product other than lighter fluid that has a good source of light naphtha? If something can be found in paint stores or automotive supply stores, that would be the best, as SWIM has lots of those stores around him.

Thanks a million!

I don't know SWIM and personally don't trust him at all. If SWIM is posting, most likely I will not respond...as I said, I don't trust the guy. YOU I trust, but never SWIM.

Lighter fluid is not the best for extractions, it's actually pretty dirty stuff. Go with the VM&P brand Naphtha if you can find it.

The list in chapter 13 of Loki's DMT Extraction Guide may give you some ideas what you are looking for. You probably want something of list 3. It was useful for me when I was looking for a suitable fuel. I would recommend verifying what you got by finding an MSDS for it (something like this.)
Theoretically speaking of course.

Let me thank you again Acolon_5. Thought it's near impossible to find the actual brand of VM&P down here, SWIM thinks he found something similar. It's called Gas Naphtha Solvent (or solvente GN en español), and it's used for removing paint. SWIM looked up the brand name and found that it is a aliphatic hydrocarbon. Is that right? SWIM can buy a very large paint barrel of the stuff for about $50US.

Thanks Bean! That is a very useful guide. Appreciate the links.

On edit: SWIM also found white gas in his scavenger hunt today, which he was curious about. This MSDS guide confirmed that this was the translated name of the stuff, though SWIM isn't THAT bad at translating Smile Great resources!

Hehehe, yea SWIM had a similar thought when he first rolled into Lowe's all that time ago. However, you're not looking for VM&P brand Naptha, you're looking for _________ brand of VM&P Naptha (VM&P stands for Varnish Maker's and Painter's, i believe). I know SWIM has used Kleen Strip VM&P, that's the brand that Home Depot usually stocks, Lowe's has a different brand that smells nastier, but both evap clean and work great for extraction.

Hi Snozzleberry. Thanks for the feedback. Problem is down here in Maya territory people look at you real funny when you ask for this type of Naphtha. But I think SWIM found a solution. White gas seems to be the lightest (easiest to evap) and there is another paint and tarnish remover that is called "gas naphtha" that I think is a little heavier than the white gas. SWIM will try the white gas and if it sucks he will probably move to the other alternative he found.
