I did my first mhrb extracts recently, using Cybs ABHybrid tek. They turned out just like described. I enhanced one of the batches with b. caapi leaf. I used this for my first spice journeys. Had some really nice experiences. I would call Heavenly. Haven't seen any entities yet. Just nice visual and auditory hallucinations, along with a feeling of being more at one with the world around me.
I have been thinking about the pharmahuasca a lot after these experiences. I've been reading about Rue extractions. A friend donated a bunch of seeds, and I tried doing a couple of simple extractions the other day. I first tried the Lemon method that I found on Erowid. Just lemon and water, boiling, straining, filtering and reducing. When it reduced, the color went from a tannish-brown to almost black. It was at first a gooey, tar-like substance, and stuck to everything. I put it back in the pot and heated it some more, until it became hard after drying. I then broke it up and put it in a coffee grinder, and it ended up looking a lot like ground-up coffee beans. I started with 9g of seeds, and ended with 7g extracted.
The other extraction came from the Psychedelic Shamanism book. It also used just lemon juice and water. The difference being that the material was heated twice in a crockpot for 12 hrs. It was strained and filtered (started with a coffee filter, but went incredibly slow, so changed that for cotton cloth), then reduced. It ended up just like the previous extract: an almost black, tar-like substance, which was dried and ground in a coffee grinder. Started with 15g of seed, ended with 12g.
The questions I have are: 1. Was this just a total waste, and I need to start from scratch and use a more complex tek? 2. Is there anything else I can do with what I have, like purify it with other substances? 3. Can I use what I have, in encapsulated form? or 4. Just splurge, and get some already extracted, ready-made pure harmine and/or harmaline powder? I would really like to go on a longer journey; more ayahuasca-like. I have had plenty of experience with other psychedelics (or entheogens, as the kids today call it). Liked the simplicity of traveling with my old friend Sid. We go way back..
