questions about syrian rue extract Options

I recently tried something new and attempted an a/b extraction on 106g of syrian rue seeds. I started by doing pulls on whole seeds until a black light showed minimal glow on the seeds, then crushed them and did it all over. Of course due to the volume of water this all turned out to be two separate jobs, whole and crushed. For whatever reason I finished the crushed batch first resulting in 5.4g of very fine tan powder with some wasted down the drain. I noticed that the bulk of what dropped out of the whole seed batch was a bit darker. I could see it as its own layer above what looked like the same light brown/tan stuff that came from the crushed batch. I am not yet done with the whole batch but when it was ll in containers it appeared as if it had maybe 60% of what the crushed batch had and something like 90% of that was darker. Is this just the different harmala alkaloids? If so which is the darker one and is it worth keeping them apart?

Just finished the rest and ended up with 4.9g of powder from before crushing the seeds. Color difference was slightly exaggerated when it was all wet but even now that its in a dry powder there is still a slight difference in color. I found this on Wikipedia, "The coatings of the seeds are said to contain large amounts of harmine" Is it just safe to assume that the darker stuff is likely just a higher % of harmine?

hmmm, it could be interesting.

You could try to isolate harmine from harmaline in your two results. With this tek for exemple or another one if you prefer.

In fact, i'm interested cause most of my harmalas seem to be harmine and i didn't crush my seeds, it could be why. I could try myself but i haven't the materials right now and it could take few month before it happens.

Please follow your experiments and report back. I'm sure i won't be the only one interested.

Have fun, playing with harmalas in A/B is fun !

I thought the alkaloids were only in the coating?
Ive noticed the same thing before but I think its just alkaloids and sediment stuck together. The more times you rinse it he lighter it gets see Gibrans Easy Cappi extraction tek thread where he also shows a rue extraction.
Maybe crushing/ grinding the seeds separates the alks from the impurities better.

I will try to do the separation thing this weekend and see what I get for the before and after crushing. I tested ~180mg of what came after the crushing and it seemed to feel similar to what I have made before so there are alkaloids inside the seeds.

Now I am curious if I can convert what I have into THH. Skimming through google it looks like HCL + zinc does this, which doesn't sound too hard. It is my understanding that the zinc is there to free up hydrogen to make THH, but then I have to remove the zinc. Would it be possible to rig up a hydrolysis setup to supply the hydrogen or am I not quite understanding what I need?
