Hey all, new to the forum, quick question, If you were to do an extraction, stb with acacia and you received the following result for the precipitate, what would you think? Not sure about this picture, especially the long strip in the bottom of that glass. ACRB, Lye, Naphtha, freeze precipitate. I would think it looks ok just uncrystallized alkaloids..could stay as a goo

I was thinking that too. If that were to melt would it completely dissolve and become homogeneous in the remaining naphtha or would it layer out do you think?
and thanks for the responses.

Bit of both pour you should have tipped it upside down to pour the drips off as soon as it came out the freezer then put a cold fan on it..

All of this was stuck to the bottom of the jar before it hit room temperature. I thought it may have been left over lye or something, but that has to be impossible if plant matter didn't also come up (I think)... Second pull went into the jar, this is when the separation was noticed.

Idk but advice I'd give you deckared.cain is do you're freeze in a Pyrex glass baking dish or similar and stb ain't for confusa !

It looks a decent colour white I will be interested to see how it looks after scraping and drying. Gently repeatedly spread it thin across a dish to release as much solvent as possible so it dries and solidifies. You could then dissolve it in minimal warm naptha and cool slowly first at room temp then the fridge then the freezer

Thanks for the replies everyone. Earthwalker: Yeah, I know its not normally done this way. I have heard of people doing it though. The jar came out of the freezer with the second pull... see image 1, when frozen, image two when in front of a fan. Note that you can see an increase from jar 1 to jar 2, this seems to be good news (I think), image 2 is partially liquid and goop. Oh, also, DreaMTripper, the slow cool sounds like s shot. Don't think there is enough to transfer to a dish in it's current condition.

Yeah thats the famous goo I think. Looks very wet now did you tip upside down to get rid of naptha?
There are many recrystallization threads and a guide on the nexus wiki if needed.

Naphtha Evaporated. That liquid doesn't evaporate, I think it also has a crazy surface tension, Pretty soon it will smell like flowers, as it did before. I will take a look at the wiki.
