I prepped a 1.858kg log of fresh torch and weighed the separate parts - just thought it would be interesting to compare results across spp.

The weights were

Dark Green outer layer = 622g
Lighter Green inner layer = 880g
Core and Wood = 286g
Skin and Spines = 70g

...unlike the "blind leading the blind". we are more akin to a group of blind-from-birth people who have all simultaneously been given the gift of sight but have no words or mental processing capabilites to work with this new "gift".

IT IS ONLY TO THE EXTENT THAT WE ARE WILLING TO EXPOSE OURSELVES OVER AND OVER AGAIN TO ANNIHILATION THAT WE DISCOVER THAT PART OF OURSELVES THAT IS INDESTRUCTIBLE.

Ah, nice info!

Do you still know the length and diameter of the log?

Phluxy, is SWIY planning to dry? If so, post the results here: http://www.dmt-nexus.me/forum/default.aspx?g=posts&t=4475

Eventually, if we get enough data like this, we could chart the results and get a nice average. Maybe we could even develop a calculator.

Great! I can then create an online calculator for it with approximate results.

49cm - 7cm(tip to tip) of Pachanoi:

1336g Total weight
969g White flesh & core
319g Green flesh
48g Outer skin & spines

The strips of green flesh have been airdried at about 35C, which took 2 days.
The weight of the strips dropped from 319g (wet) to 19g (dry). So thats about 6% dry matter.

There is some info in Trout's Notes about this... I'll try to get it up soon.

Trichocereus bridgesii monstrose = Penis plants

greenhouse grown given good organic food and ample water (fully hydrated).

30 small-medium stems of newer growth (no woody stuff) and spines removed.
fresh 575g
dried 35g
=94% water

batch 2 drying now but its also 30 stems.
fresh 677g
dried 45
=94% water

so a total of 1252 grams made 80 grams dry (almost exactly).

so about 6-6.5% of fresh cactus is the real weight of cactus (minus water) for well watered TBM.

Here is the dry cactus, not sure of the weight. 3, foot long cuttings. About 3-4 inches in diameter each.

Here is the dry. 79 grams:
