Hello everyone I just wanted to ask about taking these tablets (eg. Zofran in UK). I've vomited when taking as little as 1gr TA and a lot when taking more. I've never had any visions and I wondered if the reason was that I purged too soon-usually 5-6 hours later. I've heard it's important to purge but I've also heard of providers advising taking some medication if you have a sensitive stomach. I would like to hear from people who have done this and if they feel it helped or not. Many Thanks, BJH

Greetings, BJH. I always keep ondansetron (Zofran) around. I too am prone to horrible nausea. Excellent stuff for me. However, I have only used it with ayahuasca and mushrooms. Never with Iboga which has its own unique set of medical concerns. Maybe corpus collosum can speak to this one. "Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored." -A.Huxley

Hi a1pha
How would you usually take it? An hour before taking mushrooms or Ayahuasca? Or does it differ from plant to plant?

BJH wrote:How would you usually take it? An hour before taking mushrooms or Ayahuasca? I prefer the orally disintegrating tablets which have an almost immediate effect. But yes, usually about a half-hour before tripping. There is still some minor nausea but the vomiting is much less a problem. However, keep in mind the purge can be very rewarding / cleansing. Necessary disclaimer: Given this requires a prescription the Nexus cannot provide medical advice and/or dosing information specifically. I can only tell you how I take it and its effect on me personally. Please make sure to consult your MD and get the OK before mixing with Iboga."Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored." -A.Huxley

Thanks a1pha
I drank Ayahuasca a few times and the purge was definitely a release of negative energy/emotions, and was also a very healing part of the experience. I've just never reached the visionary/introspective stage with Iboga. It might be a part of the process though...
RE:The disclaimer: I read on another site that Zofran was fine to take with Iboga and also checked with the provider. Obviously, everyone should do their own due dilligence!

The combination of iboga alkaloids with 5HT3 antagonists such as Zofran is potentially risky; ibogaine has been documented to prolong the QT interval and the British National Formulary stresses the need for caution when using Zofran (and others of the class) with drugs which may prolong the QT and in the presence of electrolyte disorders (eg low serum potassium) which can also evoke cardiac arrhythmias through QT prolongation. Heres a case report: http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMc0804248And heres a FDA circular on Zofran and arrythmogernic effects via QTc prolongation: http://www.fda.gov/drugs/drugsafety/ucm271913.htmI am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.

Maybe it's better not to go down that route, then. Thanks for the info.

Cannabis is an effective anti-emetic and anti-nausea agent. Zofran has tested better in some trials, but cannabis doesn't have the same safety concerns. I'm not sure how substantial the liver effects of ondansetron are, but that might be another concern when mixing with ibogaine. I would have thought that 5-6 hours would be plenty of time to absorb ibogaine, or anything taken orally for that matter?

Not only does it work great with iboga but it is also used traditionally together. I personally highly recommend it.

I had no idea about these things and it will help me to be better prepared next time. Also, if 5 hours is enough to absorb the Wood then it means that I absorbed it and was meant to purge (and not that my body just rejected it).

My first time the purge came within the hour. I had a pipe already packed with some yummy purple indica flowers. I would take a puff every hour or so and didn't experience nausea even though I was completely floored. That one pipe lasted me until sunrise. I couldn't believe what a strong synergy the two had together. I would never do iboga without cannabis.

Yeah Cannabis works great for nausea, and goes great with Ayahuasca for me personally. I've also taken Zofran prior to taking Ayahuasca and it also helped with the nausea. Ginger tea works great for nausea, but i've found it interferes negatively with Ayahuasca, specifically DMT. Also alot of people apparently praise the Lemon Essential Oil although i've personally never had good luck with that.
As for other things with anti-nausea properties, i myself am trying to find another plant that has those benefits, as here soon i will have to quit using Cannabis as a medicine due to income being tight, so i gotta try to find something that i can use for nausea that can also mix synergistically with Ayahuasca and Shrooms. If anyone else knows of any other plant with nausea relieving properties, please do post, as i too would really appreciate it.

How do you notice the ginger tea affects aya and DMT negatively? Is it blood pressure related? Too much vasodilation? I also thought that the anti nausea properties of ginger were not water soluble thus rendering the tea not as effective as fresh or pickled ginger.
You could also try other things to reduce nausea like eating a small amount of fruit or burning Palo Santo, or changing the position of the body.

Sabnock : i'm also interrested about ginger not mixing well with aya (in fact pharma for me. I guess it's the same ?) Is it a cause of missfire or something else ? I'm trying to find what is wrong with me attempts, so any input is welcome . Bisous « I love the smell of boiling MHRB in the morning »

I've heard of diphenhydramine being safely used to treat nausea on iboga (effectiveness seems largely subjective, depending on person). I've not tried this though and personally wouldn't want to mix anything like this with iboga. Cannabis is an interesting alternative and is one of the few things used in combination with iboga in Africa, and likely they've been used together for some time. Herbal nausea remedies may be worth looking into as well. Also, stating the obvious I guess, but if you are sensitive to this, very important to lie still and not move much while it takes effect.

I guess it's the same ?) Is it a cause of missfire or something else ? Well at first i had used 3 teaspoons of freshly grated Ginger root, and this was just on it's own so i could test out it's anti-nausea properites. I put the 3 teaspoons in some hot water in a cup, covered the cup with a small plate (as to avoid evaporation of volatile oils) and once it was ready, i drank it. It stopped my nausea and gave me a head-effect that seemed like it could be an effective anti-depressant, although short acting (30 minutes to an hour). So when i mixed 3 teaspoons of freshly grated Ginger root with Ayahuasca, or to be more clear Pharmahuasca, here's what happened. I took my Harmala capsule, waited the appropriate amount of time and then drank my Ginger and Acacia tea. As things were supposed to come up, i found that there seemed to be a delay in the DMT effects, the DMT didn't seem to be coming up like usual, it was delayed like 30 minutes. Once i started feeling the DMT, it's like it hit me all at once, and the effects were different, almost as if i had taken Moclobemide instead of Harmalas... there was no Harmala feel to it at all. And the experience was short acting, like the DMT hit me, and within 30 minutes it was gone. But, there was no nausea, although i did purge due to the DMT hitting me all at once in the weird way it did due to the Ginger. I tried the Ginger a couple more times with Pharmahuasca and it happened like that each time, so i never messed with the Ginger again and strictly stuck with Cannabis for nausea relief. As for Ginger being water soluble, it def. is, really helps with nausea, stomach pains/cramps, and like i said it seems to come with a nice anti-depressant like head feel, similar i would say to taking 4 capsules or so of ground black pepper.

Thanks for the details. Are you drinking the ginger particles or are they filtered out? Have you ever tried taking the harmala and DMT at the same time?
