That was the 3rd pull using lazyman's tek with 1/4lb MHRB from the Better Business Bureau. I think about 200mL of napatha was dissolved, hard to remember.


Just looking for thoughts. I've noticed this stuff is unstable at slightly over ambient temperature. Anything I can do to make it more stable.


Comments, please. This won't be my last extraction. I followed lazyman's tek to a T except adding about 5% more lye to compensate for poorly broken down bark.

I'm not worried about yield as this was my first try. Better yields come with experience. Just comments about how my spice looks.

Keep it in a close airtight container... and probably in a cooler place... if it is melting, i don't think there is much you can do about that besides keeping it cool... the fridge? look like a fairly decent spice though

Doing a Recrystalization on it will help it hold up to heat a little bit better.

Really? would it stand to reason that a recrystallization makes it easier to freeze precip then?

Well recrystalizing it will just remove the oils left behind, the oils get goopy at very low temps so removing them will give you a more managable product.
During recrystalization you will get most of your spice at around room temp so in a sense yes , if you did put your re-xtal in the freezer right off (while it was still hot/warm) then the spice would crash out fast. BUT you shouldn't have to recrystalize in the freezer as you should get MOST of your spice at room temp. And Re-xtalization should be your final step in the process, you should have very clean and relitivily stable product by that point.

If you are having trouble preciping your spice try evaping your solvent down to a lesser volume (15-20% of original volume) and I promise you wont have any problems. Also, if you don't have the time or place to just let your spice sit out and evap; you can do what I do and evap your solvent gently in a double boiler on the stove on LOW under a hood. (works very well and turns evap time from like 10-15ml per hour to like several hundreds in a hour if you needed to.)

Volcano, unless you are dead set on smoking your spice you could always convert that to dmt fumarate and it will keep at much higher temps and for MUCH longer. DMT fumarate is the only form of DMT to be aproved for testing by the FDA aswell if that means anything.
Plus you could always convert it back to freebase pretty quickly if you ever feel like smoking some. doing this will leave you with nearly pure dmt in the end
