I would have liked to post this in the FASA section, but the forum wouldn't let me. Whatever.

I've done several extractions of DMT Freebase, and I am now trying to do a Fumarate extraction. I don't intend on injecting any DMT, only eating it, so I guess my extraction doesn't have to be super pure. Still, I'd like to do a nice extraction.

I'm not good with chemistry, I treat extractions as a step by step process as though I were baking a cake or something. From my understanding, the teks are similar, but with some key differences.

I'm going to go through what I believe are the correct steps to the process. PLEASE tell me if ANYTHING is incorrect. I'm counting on you guys! The parts I'm questioning are in CAPS.

I would start by doing the extraction as though I were extracting DMT Freebase. I would be doing a typical A/B tek just like I always do, up through the part where I add lye.

The first change I would make is I would USE XYLENE INSTEAD OF NAPHTHA.

After the layers have separated and I pull the top Xylene layer, I would ADD FASA TO THE PULLED XYLENE. FASA is a mixture of fumaric acid and acetone.

I would then SHAKE THE FASA AND XYLENE MIXTURE. Next, I would put the mixture in the freezer. DMT fumarate will supposedly form at the bottom. I would filter off the liquid and be left with DMT fumarate.

Finally, I would put the DMT FUMARATE INTO PURE ACETONE AND THEN FILTER OUT THE ACETONE IN ORDER TO WASH THE DMT FUMARATE. AFTER COMPLETELY DRYING AND EVAPORATING, THE DMT FUMARATE WILL BE READY TO CONSUME.

So that is my understanding. Please read through what I posted and tell me if ANY information is incorrect or inaccurate. I want to make sure that I know EXACTLY what I'm doing before I waste my time and resources. Thank you for your help.

I am less experienced with FASA/FASI/FASW method than I am with standard A/B extractiong, but I don't believe it is necessary or beneficial to agitate after adding FASA, or to put anything in the freezer. Just add the FASA solution little by little over the course of a couple hours, and it will do the rest on its own

Otherwise, unless I missed something, your process sounds good to me. I would just recommend following a tek as far as measurements go, so you don't end up with a NPS/DMT/other "undesirables" or FASA solution that is too diluted for fumarate crystals to precipitate nicely.

Thanks entheogenerator! I just have a few more questions to make sure everything is completely clear.

After I add FASA, I'm assuming that DMT fumarate will NOT immediately form at the bottom just like magic. How long should I expect to have to wait for the DMT fumarate to form?

Also will I be able to filter out the DMT fumarate, or will I have to tediously wait for it all to evaporate? I would much rather filter the contents than wait for an entire jar of liquid to evaporate.

When FASA-ing, I have found it usually takes an hour for the cloudy solution to settle by 0.5cm, so it is better to use a wide dish than a tall narrow one.

Once the solution is completely clear, add some more FASA to make sure no more DMT is in solution. If it stays clear, you should be able to easily pour off the solvent because the fumarates almost always stick to the container. Fan-dry the fumarates then scrape and collect.

I see. I wasn't aware that fumarate would stick to the container well. Thanks for the help, I think I'll be ready to try this in a few days.
