Intranasal: Freebase or Salt? Options

So I've been toying with the idea of intranasal/insufflated DMT, but I heard it burns intensely, and even the little bit that I have burns my tongue when I lick my fingers after getting a bit on me... So that doesn't bode well for my sinuses.

Anyway, I've been thinking that a citrate salt might be a better idea. I have no access to fumaric acid, but citric acid, I always keep in surplus for just these sorts of occasions; I use it for cleaning my STB product by A/B'ing the naphtha FP.

I've heard that insufflation yields a much richer, longer-lived experience, which is relevant to my interests. I've also seen some people say that it doesn't do anything. Me? I don't have a scale, so I put as much in my pipe as I think I want to smoke at the time. Cold calculation to me isn't as nice as simply guesstimating and taking my lesson as I get it.

All that being said, I would like someone to provide some experience with any salt snorting endeavors, or a more science-minded person give me the stoichiometry of salting, plus retention tactics, because evaporating water is hard without burning product. I have absolutely no idea how to retain the salt from solution.

I'm a rather well-educated individual; an engineering student, so don't be afraid to lay it on me thick.

I know I might seem like I'm babbling but this is kind of a stream of consciousness... Just let me know thoughts.

As an aside I would really like someone to post a picture of what a 50mg weighted sample looks like next to a dime or something comparable. Not having a scale kind of sucks, and I really don't know what a gram/half/quarter/tenth looks like :/ all I know is what gets me off.

Have you seen Hyperspace Fool's coconut oil approach to insufflating dmt, where the coconut oil should take care of the burn:

cy6nu5 - I can confirm that snorting freebase hurts intensely!

All the data to answer your questions on stoichiometry should be on the Wiki. Bear in mind that if you have culinary citric acid it will surely be the monohydrate.

One more thing about using citric acid is that it is tribasic, which you may want to take into account in your calculations.

You really ought to consider getting a decent scale. And quite possibly some fumaric acid.

Not so. You just have to be patient and do it in the cold, or use a computer fan and a warm thing. Also, a Bain marie is very easy to rig up.

“There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. From this position he has access to the realities which are ordinarily hidden from us by time and space, matter and energy. This is what we call the Great Work."
