I recently found a kambo stick which I'd acquired about a year ago and felt inspired to give it a try.It came accompanied with a short bamboo-style stick the diameter of which was about 4mm and this was used to make the burns.

The sap-laden sticks' end was dipped in sterile water and was then scraped using a sharp knife to form 4 globules of sap which were each about a match-head in size and had a consistency of paper glue which was in the processing of drying to a rubbery consistency. These were placed on a piece of foil whilst the burns were made over my right knee; the pain was very short-lived and required some psychological preparation to actually apply the glowing bamboo piece to the skin. It was easy enough to rub off the surface epithelium from the 4 inoculation points made.

Using moist finger-tips each globule was retrieved from the foil, made moist once more (as just letting the sap sit dried it out to a fine salt-like consistency) and in quick succession the 4 lumps were applied to the burns, smeared over then allowed to sit having been compressed to site of application. Within 30 seconds the burns became fairly uncomfortable.

Two minutes later I felt a marked dryness of the throat with a tightness, heavy eyelids and limbs, slowed respiration, a churning in the abdomen with a moderate degree of nausea and a psychic effect which felt distinctly like a mu agonist opioid but lacking the degree of euphoria experienced with the usual suspects. There was no discernible psychedelic effect but my head felt pressured and a little distant. These effects grew over about 20 minutes and I purged from below only.

The physical effects plateaued and receded after about 30 or so minutes leaving a feeling of contentment not unlike an opiate but, IMO, deficient in the euphoric component. Its now 4 hours since the application and this feeling remains.

It will be interesting to see how things are tomorrow when according to other aficionados, other effects become apparent.

I don't know presently if a familiarity with opiates has diminished the lustre of the experience and I think that the initial physical unpleasantness is a hindrance to this stuff becoming very popular. After one experience only to gauge matters I would not regard kambo as recreational at all, rather its a product which will continue to interest a small section of the psychonauts out there.

Interesting stuff, nevertheless.

I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.

Thanks for sharing !

Did you feel any swelling of your face ?

Do you think applying to the knee, as opposed to the traditional application to the arms, might make a difference in absorption and effects?

Did you remove the kambo from the burns at some point?

Yes, my eyelids were swollen when inspected in the mirror, and the whites of the eyes slightly reddened.

The knee was chosen as it felt a lot easier to work this site plus the scars are not going to be on show as much as if the application was to the arm.

The onset was quick and all the purported effects were there (bar puking, although the nausea was pretty marked.Maybe prior experience with opioids made the ride easier?).

I wiped the globules off at about 40 minutes, at which point the physical nastiness had largely abated.

Thanks for sharing. Interesting stuff kambo. It seems to have a reverse tolerance or sensitivity thing going in some instances, at least that's what I heard from the people overseeing my sessions and I seemed to experience. All of your symptoms ring true of my experience with kambo, but my first time seemed light in comparison to my second and third sessions (these two sessions were a day apart), which floored me and resulted in lots of vomiting and stronger effects. All the times with kambo I've had a pronounced afterglow afterwards, although two of my three times I drank ayahuasca prior to the kambo ceremony. The combination appears to be highly synergistic and gives you a good mental and physical clean out and resulted for me in an extended, grounded afterglow and feeling of clarity, a very wholesome and healthy feeling.

I wouldn't fancy a blast of change certainly within the first hour; thereafter I think the combination would be pretty good as the kambo-induced mindset should make for a nice launching point.

The amount of sap on the stick is more than sufficient for a good few further missions and affords the opportunity for some combinations. Wink

thanks for sharing your kambo experience.
definitely this exquisite frog medicine is one of the main factors for not getting sick all last year, no flu, no colds.
the effects you describe are akin to my experiences.
the Kambo is highly intelligent, and have noticed it usually targeting that guts, stomach, throat and move around from there.
i usually do odd number of points: 5, 7, 9, 11
the first time was absolutely amazing ... the highly following the 45min nausea and physical pummeling was fantastic, incredible clarity and energetic positivity.
Haven't had that same level of afterglow since.
i have never found Kambo to be psychedelic in any way. Also never had facial swelling.
It seems the frog medicine loves water, so i've found it important to drink lots of bottle water before the applications, usually on the right or left shoulder.
after about 10 minutes, I apply a wet paper towel to the area, so that more of the Kambo can be soaked into the burns.
Love the Kambo, what can i say.
everything i write is for the purposes of creative expression and writing a science fiction novel.

Explorer7, it is rather dangerous to do kambo with no massive water intake 2liters minimum.
The medecine works as fire, the water makes for more barable heating and also ease the purge.
Now, I've found the first two sessions were very uncomfortable compared to the latter.
It can be a very good point in healthy lifestyle. Also it helps with number of diseases and in curing addiction.
The main activity is in boosting extremely well the immune system and the detoxifying of the liver.
Now Corpus Collapsum, you may find more euphoric afterglow after a few sessions.

Kambô is a true godsend.

Anybody has access to this paper ?

http://www.sciencedirect...cle/pii/0041010193901253

Are any of the supposed benefits demonstrated already, and if not, where did the speculations come from? I guess indigenous people don`t use the term `immune system` , but did they say something that makes people translate in such terms?

Indigenous say Kambo removes "panema" which is bad luck. but bad luck can be seen as low health, or mood, thus affecting activities.

Hi endlessness, this article is worth checking out if you want to know a little more about the chemistry and pharmacology of kambo.
